I can work in both ft and inches and cm / meters, thanks to my parents! Mainly mother going what's xxcm? I can also work in both lbs /stones and g and kg. Fahrenheit just confuses the hell out of me.
Well, it did something last night. I heard a rumble of thunder as I was going to bed but was out like a light when my head hit the pillow. Apparently it rumbled on for a while with lightening and some rain, but blue skies again this morning.Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.

On another subject that I would like peoples opinions on. As you know I spend some time looking after my 92 year old mum. shes had a few falls recently and its getting difficult her being there on her own at night as thats when she falls. Just back from my job away and she said she has a carer from the agency with a small child who lives in one room ( she is recently here from Romania and her child has just arrived) and Mum thought she might offer her accomodation so she has someone there at night.
I think its not a very good idea what does everyone else think?0 -

Not a good idea - what would your mum do if some of her mates suddenly appeared? And the idea of a child getting under your mum's feet is a bit scary to say the least.
One other thing - how does she know the carer lives in one room? Not saying she would lie, but equally not saying she would not, she could be preparing to work a scam. It happens.
Also, I have heard of people "sharing" children in order to get family allowance and to con their way into peoples lives.
It might be a quite legitimate situation, but, apart from anything else, I do not think it is a good idea for a small child to be running around under your mum's feet.
This is nothing to do with her being from Romania, I wouldn't trust anyone that I had known for such a short while to live under my roof with a young child. The amount of times I have heard sob stories that have turned out to be totally untrue is ridiculous.
Maybe she needs to talk to the agency for a trusted carer to be there overnight? Preferably without children? Doesn't have to live in, could be the same as night work. Surely an overnight carer should not be asleep anyway, may not hear it your mum has a fall. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
