Amused to see SSM thinks I'm a lady
And you forgot one aspect of the thread SSM - baked potato recipes
I am lousy at gender.... I think we have had this discussion before. To me you are a lady (but you may have a w*lly).

As for the dreaded C word - well firstly we thought we would be having a home alone C - our first.
But then everyone finalised their plans.
Eldest son and his GF are going to her family over Christnas and then when they fly back they are coming to us a couple of days after Christmas.
Eldest child and her Oh are at his parents over Christmas and then coming to us a couple if days afterwards.
So then we will have a house full for a few days - so our family Christmas will be belated - It was the wedding the last time all 6 of us were together. I think we are realising that getting the 6 of us in one place even for a few days will be almost impossible. Even getting 4 out if the 6 together is a logistically nightmare.
Eldest child gets wildly excited about Christmas at home so we have to put the full performance on for her - no pared down modern minimalist it has to be full on Christmas.
As for presents - not a single clue yet“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

How much do you usually spend on her (roughly). I used to spend £40 per person for a few presents. When there is 5 in a family not only was it pricey I had to shop for them and then wrap them. It takes at least a day!!!! As total family will be 12 and then I buy for friends. It got ridiculous so many presents everywhere so we set a limit within the family exchange. It does help.
If you can say it after this Christmas next year their should be a budget. Or something.
Good luck!
When I first stalked the elite, there was someone who posted that their family spent £1 per person on token gifts.
It was when 1p items were around and the leaf design trays.
She filled a tray with items but had to produce the receipts to prove that she hadn't gone over budget!:money::rotfl::A
Own up?!curl girl with a space - even though there is no space in my cupboard!!!0 -

I'd say well over £100 for her, easily, with some items bumping up the value even more because of thrifty buying. Around £50 for each child, plus any last minute impulse buys.
The last two years - her divorce years - saw me giving more and more, partly because if I hadn't, she wouldn't have had much - it was bad enough him leaving without taking Santa as well. Also I had to get things on behalf of the children. And see to Mother's Day and her birthday from the kids as well as me.
But, this year, she has moved in with her new OH, life is rosy on all levels, and as I say there are now 4 kids for me to consider instead of two.
So it seems like now is a very sensible time to make the change.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
Presents
:(
Usually Eldest child is with us at Christmas and then she joins her OH and his family and does Christmas all over again. Her in-laws shower with a lot of very expensive over priced presents, we cant compete - I get Eldest child to give me a list of what she wants and needs and I use this as a starting point plus she gets little treats as well.
She also gives me ideas about what her Oh would like
This year though it will be the other way around so she will have her in-laws presents first - hopefully it wont over shadow what we get her.
Eldest son is the most difficult, last year I had to ask his GF what he wanted and I felt I was pinching her best ideas
And I have no idea what to get her either.
They have very traditional Christmasses where GFs family live so again I am worried that ours will be 2nd best version.
Also all presents will have to seem to be of a similar value as the present giving will be all done together - so another thing to bear in mind
deep sigh“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
