    Good evening Elite.
Hugs to all those in need. ((Sarah))

Not caught up yet so apologies if already known...the SA in Gregg's this morning told me they have a new app promo starting soon where if you buy a ribena using the app it should then trigger a reward for a free salad.

Thought these would have compared on a womble savvy:o

    A v M

    2x Coca-Cola Classic Cans (24x330) £17.00 N/A

2 for £17 for M online - however that is marked as an "Online exclusive". If this product is available instore, it could be much higher price (so be glad it's not compared) or it could be cheaper (as sometimes the "online exclusives" - the word "exclusive" is meant to look good - can be a much more expensive offer than the price instore. I have one item so far as a result of yesterday that seems to have gone up in price online as if to pay for it going onto reduction instore).

Yesterday was one of my "wider collections", where I visited more stores than 'usual', or rather, it turned out to have been a number of stores that, together, had a wider range than I have during my weeks in between. You'd think I'd therefore have the instore price of this Cola Cola pack especially with the number of stores I visited! (In fact, I did rather well yesterday - instead of the usual six (or sometimes seven) of a wider collection, I visited five stores and somehow they managed to have the range that normally needs six stores). Usually the more stores I go through is the time that, despite visiting all those stores, I will fail to notice something that was properly in several, if not all, of them and then the item I've missed will be the one item that people here will immediately find and I'll know nothing at all about it.

I don't know what price this item is instore:o - however that undoubtedly be because, whatever price it is, it is nowhere near my guide price. I see offers of £6 on 24 pack cola from time to time, which may the price currently of some 24 pack Pepsi, but even that is no good - whether Pepsi or Coca Cola I expect (my unrealistic expectation maybe) prices of no higher than £5 for 24 pack. Some of that seemed very much way too high itself by a glitch for one pack at pence in T some years ago. I don't think 24 Coca Cola will even be £6 but may be full price at the moment. A possible reason this has not been found by the collectors - although my reasons are always possibly way off the mark - could be that that these boxes are items that most often get put on aisle ends, at store frontages or in their own display/set-up that isn't part of any aisle specifically - they're the type of items that aren't always stocked by M (although maybe they are, somewhere?) and get brought in on special purchases that then last for several weeks and into a number of months until stock is gone. Some months later another special purchase is done and the items generally back in M - seemingly always at the same price, equivalent to being always the same type of price as might be charged as an offer price at competitors - however, the vast majority of the time, these items are not found in the usual run of regular aisle stock and therefore I think the collectors don't collect prices from those places. It seems to me the collectors collect from normal aisle runs and not from aisle end displays or items at "random" locations in stores.

This item may be one of those items like that - boxes that are placed in a seemingly random place instore (though I can assure you that place, far from being "random", is actually very strategically placed) - sometimes big packs of alcohol can be found in those places as well, though they do normally compare. (Perhaps they have found them in the regular aisle in a single store and therefore almost did not have them, but thanks to the one store they do - they're usually out in other places or in middles of aisles that don't look good to me for picking up for the APG but then items can be found in very different places in another store and they may have them in a quite different place to me.)

Based on the following items not comparing in the past, that seem to be items brought in specially on occasion that remain for a while until they are gone, it does seem that the collectors don't collect prices from aisle end displays or the 'random' (that are anything but random) locations of stores. Walkers Stax, Heinz 4 pack tomato soup and 4 pack vegetable soup, one of the versions of Heinz 6 pack beans that came up on a womble, M Cooked Chicken 200g... there is a common thread here, they're all items that are not in M on every week of the year but only at certain periods, which may each last several months, in which they have come back in and then regularly remain for a while until they go (at different times in different stores, generally become harder and harder for me to find or in fewer stores until eventually I lose them) and then a number of months later come back into several stores again - probably once more in M generally, then again remain until they are sold at various times in different stores - usually out at the front of stores as if on promotion at the beginning of their period of appearance, then I assume people must be buying them over the weekend aferwards, may be around the following week, diminishing stock, and then get moved around stores, with a small pile of stock here or there, getting more difficult to find, then only left in one store, very small number of cans or only some flavours and lost others etc. etc.

Very rarely are they in regular aisle stock or it may be that the collectors do pick them up initially (I doubt it though as they are not in aisle stock and it does seem the collectors don't collect from other places as many of the items I have seen not comparing are items that are in those other places for me and probably for them too) but as "new items" that aren't yet in the system for M, that then need to wait approval to see if they are the same as the ones in A, meaning they are N/A and, before the time that they need to be consistently there to gain approval, they have already gone in their stores, so they never get approved and, when they return on their next period of appearance, several months later, they are back at being "new items" again, that they don't have for M, and thus back at square one for the approval process that then never gets complete so they've gone from the stores again and so on and thus never compare.

Yet the system did pick up Special K Original 300g which I thought was a similar sort of item. However, that may be because it had become regular aisle feature in one of their stores by that time - which then remained in stock for a few weeks and is now probably in a stockout stage and may well have lost its M price on the system. It's sometimes random where an item such as this is - I mean the location I find it in a store - it's almost gone again now and then some months later may appear as a lingering RTC or else an item now regularly at this price in M (equivalent to continuous offer elsewhere) but out at store frontages again, so not picked up, until eventually in a few stores it goes into regular aisle stock and gets picked up or may be just in places around stores, pot luck as to whether they have it in the collection stores - probably will have it in one of them but may be in 'promotional'-like stock stage around stores and if the store they have it is one that has it out like that, it may not get picked up. In fact, the Nestle Pure Life 6 pack that I have on my list at £2 M price is possibly an item of this kind - judging by the location in my stores (such as I even have it at all and often it's just in one of them), it may well not stand much hope. In fact, I did have it, a few weeks back (possibly still there, who knows?), at Wrexham, which you know I suspect to be a price collection store, in the main aisle run - unlike the place I had it elsewhere - but unfortunately it had no SEL. So no luck for the collectors I suspect there - the SEL that was there was (maybe still is) for a different product that I couldn't see on the shelf - which is probably why the store didn't have the right SEL up (because store workers probably haven't noticed that it's for the wrong product).

Whilst the collectors may pick up prices only from regular aisle runs, I pick up items* from wherever I find them in stores from wherever I find them in stores as the collectors may have them in a different location to me.

*(but only as long as they are good enough M price for me or if I have rare advance notice of a glitch, known well in advance of price collection day)

I did do rather well in M yesterday. I think I was helped because it seems there was very little that had changed (although of course I get lots of new items each time:rotfl:) and there wasn't much that was expected to change anyway. In fact I finished my first store an hour early and thought "have I missed a lot out?". I don't think I have but may well come across a whole section I know nowt about later:rotfl:. But seriously, I don't think it's that. It meant I was able to go to my next store earlier than usual, and then, at a whim, I changed my plans completely.

There's an item, that perhaps might be thought of as a more specialist item, although not to people that regularly buy it, that was in my main store but it stopped having it about six months ago and I haven't had it back there ever since. It is in none of my other regular stores, as they don't have that range (or just have a few other items in it). Then the item disappeared offline last week:( and went into the ether of one of those items that I thought I would rarely see - or only see when attempting to do a wider collection (where I go beyond my nearby stores that don't give me certain ranges and leave me relying on online whilst their offers continue until I manage to go out and visit stores for them again).

The problem was that one of my stores for the wider range that I don't have nearby also didn't have this item last time or sometimes has it and sometimes doesn't. There's other stores that are ones that I rarely go to, because there isn't time to visit them in one day when I'm visiting my "wider collection" stores, and if I don't visit the wider collection stores then I miss out on a more important range and my wider stores have a lot more items in those ranges. The item disappeared from my main store around six months ago - it's been in another couple of stores for me, which I rarely visit, but I returned to one of those places on a rare occasion and lost it from there and I've lost it from another place too, and now it's disappeared from online (or at least last week it had, maybe it has come back now).

Instead of two of my other nearby stores, I therefore picked, at a whim and just because there was time to visit it and return before visiting my 'wider collection' places that are in another direction, another store I visit more rarely, which has some of this range but I thought they've probably not got this item any more. So - I visited there and :(it didn't have the item. (However, it did have a number of items that I almost certainly would not have at all had I stuck to my usual run and then done the usual wider stores.) I thought I wasn't going to have the item at all (it's in that other rare place that I visited a couple of weeks ago but couldn't visit this time as going to the wider stores - a shame as it's only ten miles or so away from another of those stores but, in the time of a day, it's either one or the other - I can't visit both and it's pointless visiting each on consecutive days, travelling there and back and then travelling all the way there and back the following day).

I thought I was going to end up without this item at all. However, in the event, I found it in both of my wider stores so ended up with it twice over (and had the same price displayed in both). I missed out two of my nearby stores. No problem anyway as they would be simple enough to visit - or one of them to walk to - anytime I wanted if needed. However, the store I happened to visit instead had some of the stuff I only have in one of the nearby stores that I missed and had the stuff I only have in my other nearby store and I found the other items that my nearby stores have in the other stores. There's another item that disappeared from my nearby store some months ago (I went out to another store recently hoping to find it and didn't:() but this added store also had it (and I do still have it elsewhere but don't need to travel out to that place now either). I did very well as I managed to get what I normally get from six stores from only five - and the one store that replaced two of my nearby ones (obviously could only visit one instead of two within that time as travelling time was needed) had also now got another range, with one item I need from that, that I would only see if doing a special trip to one of my not-quite-nearby stores (which would have to be done on another day and involve travelling) or I could have had a ten-minute trip up the road from one of my wider stores, when visiting that area, and could have done that within the day but would then end up about half an hour to forty-five minutes later back home. Normally I just leave it as it's not a significant range and the item 'won't have changed', so I catch up with it every now and then. However, I even managed to have it in my added store so no need to visit that sixth store anyway:cool:.
