Not tried it myself as it costs the same as royal mail and I have no Goose nearby. I can see the attraction with the ability to pick up any time within a week, but depending on buyer having a Goose nearby too. If RM don't manage to deliver peeps can collect from sorting office etc. So probably six and half dozen on your preferences.

Good morning all, grey here, supposed to be warming up later though.

Got one or two things left to do before OH comes home.

mhoc, from a buyers point of view I love Argos click and collect because it is easier than hanging around waiting for a delivery only to finally have to pop out for half an hour only to come home to a missed delivery! As for price, I always arrange it lowest price + p&p, which means if delivery is extra it will come first in my list. If it was £10 + £2 delivery that would come before one that was £12.

OMG, just seen local news, knew we had hell of storms but there is severe flooding:eek::eek:
I think we were lucky this time as if it hadn't have happened so fast the flood gates would have been opened:eek: there will be a big inquiry into to this can see it coming, thats why the flood gates were done to stop town flooding after the '98 floods:o

Makes me glad that if I were in danger of flooding, Noah would be passing waving at me :)

I would also lay blame on a lot of flooding being avoidable if only modern planners and builders didn't use flood risk areas. I can see builders doing it for a quick profit with cheap land. As for planners... I wonder if they have their fingers in the pie (or should that be the dam?).. Personal opinion only.

For older properties, the local authorities should have also thought this out in advance to get flood prevention systems into place.

Not quite to that extent here, but a lot of the surrounding area would have to flood before we did, and I mean A LOT, hundreds of square miles. Ironic really as we live only a quarter mile away from the river!

The Problems with flooding have been caused by building on flood risk areas, but also by concreting over so much leaving nowhere for the water to soak into the land. We are lucky in that we have several flood plains just down the road that are used by the river at least a couple of times a year.

Another thing we need is to go back to dredging though. Yes, it does interfere with the eco system in the river for a few weeks, but things soon settle back down as long as it is done at the right time of year. We need the silt removing and the banks building up, as was done so many years ago. I remember watching dredging on the River Avon as a child, the green lobby got it really wrong, the rivers recover quickly and, to be honest, we need to remember that we humans exist too and we were given the ability to change our environment for a reason.

  • Thank you kindly everyone :A for your warnings.

Just "drawn" out the site and plan - and I'm hot and tired already lol.

It's going to be roughly circular, 2.5 metres in diameter and 1 metre deep, with a shallow edge about 35cm deep and 35cm wide for plants.

I'm also to paint a "frog hotel" - an upside down terracotta strawberry planter :)

    I don't know what I'm doing - but that's nothing new :)

Keep safe everyone with the reported flooding :A
