Think I read that even though they would be kept separate, the term 'one operation' was used to bring customer loyalty in line with each other....Nectar points at A then

Hypothetical question ... if you receive cashback for a transaction that you either didn't complete, or it was cancelled, can you keep it? After all, they confirm transactions weeks later, before they pay, and you have no control over whether they pay or not.
If a retailer/service provider was offering a giftcard/cheque for signing up, and they sent that to you after you had cancelled, can you keep it? Their system is set up to verify the transaction before they send it, so assume their system believes you are entitled to it ...
And in either case, can they reclaim it?
Hypothetical answers welcomed ...
Thanks

I came across this recently. we signed up through tcb for vodafone broadband for connection on 4th Jan. They had not connected us 3 weeks later and had no idea when they could connect us so returned to plusnet our orginally provider and got cashback there instead. However, vodafone paid out our cashback but I contacted tcb to return it as we took vodafone to the ombusman and received £50 compensation.
Dont think tsb's offer of compensation of 5pc one one account is very generous. Think they should pay it on all accounts lol. There are also a lot of people who will have very limited funds in their accounts who will hardly benefit at all and probably they are the people who got caught out when the system was down so not really fair all around.0 -
