It might not be the same in your area but when my Dad had his fall he was taken to a care home - he was assigned a social worker who organised it all - and he had the first 6 weeks with no fee. That helped greatly, gave us time to sort things out.
As it turned out although I wanted him to go back home he was determined to stay in the home so that's what happened.
He was self funding - you don't have to have very much money to be above the limit where you have to pay your own care home fees or at least make a contribution towards them. Mind you that was 4 years ago so I don't know if its any different now ...
My Mum has had 3 falls in the last week and I called Adult Social Care about an assessment and they will be about a month coming. She needs to be in care but I will have a battle with my siblings to do that. How little my life changes in some ways!0 -
Morning all
I am going to be near a small Superdrug today so I need to update the list of possible RTC to look for - although I never get lucky in this store but I live in hope.
Also found one new points offer on the Boots app which I must have missed before ..
ON COS a new offer this morning - £1 off the bigger bags of Hippeas but only from Asda or Tesco - might be good for a T v A shop as Asda have them for £1.50 - good value for 50p after cashback.
Yesterdays freebies still showing.
I've withdrawn from both of our COS accounts this week as both were over £20.
scroll ^^^^ a bit to my post last night of sd items I found- the handwash was good 25p 500ml which is the right size for the refills we got from :)T recently0 -

I worked on The Marathon ( my sisters co does the catering ) and the situation with water was ridiculous. They always have pallets of water delivered by the sponsor ( Buxton I think ) but its never distributed around the site till Sunday. Apparently they tried to get 3 extra pallets delivered but the transport company wanted an extra £1000.00 to deliver it. ( NOT THAT THEY CANT AFFORD IT ) We are usually on mains water but this year we had a water bowser with a limited amount of water available. We did our best to give out water on Saturday but on Sunday we had volunteers and workers continually coming for water to refill their bottles when there were pallets of water all over the place but not in the right place!! Initially we said no but then my sister said just give people water if we have to take home dirty pots and pans so be it.
On the whole its very well organised but its not like they didnt know it would be hot. Did your son get a volunteers badge?
as you say it had always been forecast as hot !!
No badge?..but my DIL works for the YHA where they had a water stop but she wasn't actually working there on Sunday so they were more like onlookers this year, and its more difficult when they have 2 toddlers in tow... Ill have to ask if they got a badge on previous years when they helped out.0 -

My blood results have come through from last weeks Oncology appointment - I thought I had mis-heard, but after telling me 3 times, I am happy to say that they are the best since my diagnosis :j:j:j
So thank you Elite :A for your kind words and good wishes, they have had an effect and I am most grateful
I was told to " Go out and have the best Summer ever" So the recent scan and blood results have given me the confidence to book a lovely family cruise
I don't normally find wombles - but yesterday I was just about to get a trolley, at Sainsburys, when I felt I had stood on something. I looked down to find I was standing on a whole cucumber! I can't understand how I missed seeing it before standing on itA shame really as I need one for the Vietnamese fish salad I'm making for dinner
Hope everyone has a lovely day :A
That's the power of the elite for you :rotfl:
hope you find a wonderful cruise to book, no doubt you can get loads of advice from others on here.
but first get your eyes tested, How can you miss a cucumber:rotfl::p0 -

My Mum has had 3 falls in the last week and I called Adult Social Care about an assessment and they will be about a month coming. She needs to be in care but I will have a battle with my siblings to do that. How little my life changes in some ways!
My Dad got a social worker straight away - I suppose as soon as they fit enough they need to be out of hospital so they don't block beds. But if your Adult social care cant come for a month then its going to be very close to the 6 week limit. She has to access everything in the home, if they are going back home - they were organising a cleaner to come in for my dad, district nurses, a keybox, handrails by the front door etc - and it was all taking a very long time to organise - and then he decided he wasn't going home.
Its very difficult pleasing everyone especially when there are several siblings. Or stubborn parents for that matter.
My friend had both of her elderly parents ill at the same time but both were in different hospitals - one in North wales where the parents lived and one outside Liverpool. She ran herself ragged - driving between Cheshire, North wales for her dad and checking on the bungalow and then to her mums hospital in Liverpool and still keeping things running at home and with the business.
Sadly her father died first so then there was the long drawn out business of selling the bungalow.
In the meantime her mum was to go into a care home in Cheshire so it would be easier to see her. Her mum had been disabled for a long time and wheelchair bound so it was the best solution - trouble is mum vehemently did not want to go into a home.
My friend must have visited every care home within a 50 mile radius looking for the perfect home with lots of activities and social life and a good atmosphere before finding the right one.
What did her mum do - refuse point blank to ever come out of her room at the home or take part in any of the activities or social life!“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
