If you did not already have a live line then they would almost certainly want to charge you for installation.

I do appreciate that - that is why I checked with online chat to effectively find out how much it may be - they said it would cost nothing.

The left hand never knows what the right hand is doing there. OH has even had to ensure he was at a customer's house at the same time as the BT engineer and walk him through the problems and point out it was an equipment fault at the exchange, even though this had been said so many times but the info never got through.

We could tell you some stories that would make your hair curl, We have among our clients the BT legal department, we deal with the clients that will never let a BT engineer in their house again.

Wish i could be of more help, but at least you will be on the look out for deals as the contract ends next time.

Companies CS are a real pain lately for misinforming!

I find you have to contact CS numerous times and see if you get matching answers from any of them.
Some assistants don’t know their own policies or t&c’s, and you were unlucky to get a numpty Anon.

I think if it was me I would have to reluctantly stick with bt as long as there’s no vermin charges.

The copy of the chat would probably have you :wall:

Returned an item to S today.
Was asked to put my number in card machine.

Luckily I checked my receipt and she had charged me for the item again!!
