As Christmas will be a little different for us this year, we’re having our family meal and presents today, followed by a quiet day tomorrow. SIL is cooking - we’re having goose

I haven’t cooked stock from bones for a while and that really isn’t the problem. I didnt want to cook one of my big chickens from the freezer as we have plenty of food out. So I’ll have to go out and get a small one. He’s adamant that we won’t use a stock cube and I’m indulging him as I love his new found interest in food:)

So I’m getting an early start on the day although I must say I’m dreading going out to the shops:o

You can always freeze the chicken meat before making stock -- great that he is so interested in cooking well.

I've just come back from Morrison's, on my way back from church. It was HEAVING! There were long queues for every checkout, all waiting for the 10am witching hour when we could start paying. Someone said A was opening from 10 am too -- they don't usually open until 11 am. Believe it or not, I shopped because Mum is running out of Steradent and A was out of it last night. :(

Forgot to say last night when I posted about no decoration reductions in B&M and A, that I also checked the Serrano ham which someone said was scanning at £10. Sadly not in my A, it wasn't...

Loads of fat will come out, I think. I'd love to hear how you get on with it. I've only eaten it once and the friend who cooked managed to get grease everywhere as it overflowed the roasting dish. We also ended up eating it cold as her DH struggled for ages to work out how to carve it.

    Morning all

Someone was asking about Christmas Eve on a Sunday - the reason it seems peculiar is because the last one was 2006

Its quite a long gap this time but previously it was more regular - there must be some sort of maths formula to say why every so often there is a very big gap

    2017
    2006
    2000
    1995
    1978
    1972
    1967
    1950

Presumably it goes funny when a leap year jumps it from Saturday to Monday? That happened in 2012.

DD included an address and that is a significant move forward
Yes send DD a card - its all you can do. The worst that they can do is to put "not at this address" and put it back into the letter box - well not the worst.

I'd also send her a card. I hope it doesn't open old wounds, but it also tells her that despite everything she is still your daughter and you love her.

Nellie you shouldn’t have said that about me looking different with my grey hair as people who didn t read your initial post will think I really have grey hair etc:mad: You know what I look like ;)

    Yes you too :D

    Good Morning all :):xmastree::santa2:

Awww, Emerald. Maybe Nellie just meant your natural colour and not when you’ve had your roots re-bleached. I’m sure she didn’t mean any harm :)
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.
