We have been away for a couple of days - our offspring clubbed together and got us a night in a very posh country house hotel and spa in the Lake District with a 5 course dinner :T - joint Christmas presents/anniversary presents.

It was absolutely gorgeous - very Christmasy and we have been very spoilt - Eldest child did all of the organising, she is very good at these things.

I think I prefer the lakes in the winter when its wild and untamed and the tourist hoards are not as intrusive.

We went up through Windermere and then stopped at Ambelside for coffee - oddly realising we have never been to Ambleside before and then onto Keswick.
OH had a full on paddy before we set off, saying he would not want any lunch (as if) and he didn't want to go to Keswick as it would be fully rammed with crowds and impossible to get onto the carpark. Needless to say by the time we got to Keswick he did want lunch and the carpark was not full and it was not that busy.
So we ended up in Greggs and used an android pay £5 voucher - I was thinking of taking him somewhere nice for lunch but sometimes in view of the full on paddy it wasn't worth risking booking anywhere and he was happy enough with Greggs ...

    How nice, sounds lovely:T:T:T

Eldest son and his GF were here for 6.30 on Thursday, a couple of hours early - OH did his signature dish, mince and tatties - all eaten up.
A while later we twigged on why they were both very quiet - we expected them to be quite giddy and de mob happy. Thought at first it was just tiredness - GF had only finished work for Christmas that afternoon and its a long drive across.
Turned out that Eldest son had said something in the car and they had had a full on row and they were in the aftermath of this argument.
GF went off to be at 8.30 and then Eldest son followed at 9.30

There was still a bit of an atmosphere in the morning - Eldest son was a bit snappy with us as we let them sleep in a bit. We were going to do bacon butties but they went off with no breakfast at all - went off to see a mate and then to do more shopping. There train to the airport wasn't until 12.30 but they were also going to get early lunch - even though we told them that the retail park had standing traffic the day before ...

We assume they got their train and flight and arrived safely - needless to say no "arrived safely" messages

It was beautiful - I though Eldest child went through Travelzoo but even so very expensive - but I think you have to do the posh hotel experience at least once - memory making.

The hotel even had an outside Jacuzzi pool :T

Picture of your effort would be lovely if I’m not too late xx

I'll try and sort a pic out later. It was about 4 inches across at the top but only about 7 inches long. Still looks fab though :j

I’m not being clever or trying to be funny or anything but I don’t really understand the clingfilm bit:o
The time it takes to open a roll and find the ends can take minutes:o

Think I would have just pulled some shelving on top of him for speed.

    Oh I don’t know. It’s just so tragic:o:o

I absolutely agree, when I was told cling film my first reaction was probably the same, why, think I might have just hit over the head with anything heavy and near by,
But just a tragic loss of young life. I have a daughter that's just turned 30, and it's unthinkable
