Apparently you can only access it via the MSE website, it'll be on the BG Website in Two Days according to the BG Chat Help.

    Not according to their website:

    All Online Jan 2019

If you’re interested in signing up to our online only tariff All Online Jan 2019, please note you can only sign up by using a price comparison website. All energy comparison sites will offer this tariff.

The tariff is not available direct, only via CPWs - of course MSE Dan L is going to promote the MSE one
    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=73357424&postcount=2

But this tariff is not cheap (unless you want to stay with BG because of their smart meter you already have)

There is a pain with this tariff and that is the end date, for those who are eligible for WHD.

Most of the time (EON this year, has been the exception for me) WHD is paid between Feb and April. So if I move over and apply for WHD with BG next year, if I find a cheaper supplier and move, I will lose my WHD, if I have not received it by Jan 19. Therefore, this would tie me in with BG for the next few years, when they are not renowned for their competitive prices.

Currently showing £54 a year more expensive, but my EON and ZOG tariff are excellent.

On top of that, I would lose my Scottish Power IHD, which is IMO the best on the market (as it shows my metric meter readings).

I have also read that BG's IHD units stop working when you leave them. I assume that they will not, if they are now installing SMETS2.

Welcome to the forum. You are of course fully entitled to your opinion; however, this site is all about consumers saving money. The clue is in the forum title. What I, and another poster, have been trying to point out is that the tariff that OP is looking at is considerably more expensive than the cheapest deals on the market.

The answer to the OP's original question is very simple: ring British Gas and ask.

Edit: To put the above into context, the BG Offer for my usage and postcode shows:

    Gas S/c 24.99p Unit 3.644p

    Electricity s/c 24.99p Unit 13.851p

My present tariffs (both of which are still on the market) are:

    Gas S/c 12.6p Unit 2.975p

    Electricity S/c 16p Unit 10.805
Mine were a lot better than that, especially on gas tariff but its ended recently, as yours will, so forget about 10p per kwh rates, they have all gone right up now at least in my rather cheap area of S.Yorks.
I have abandoned the small suppliers this time and have just initiated a dual fuel switch with Eons latest and with the £30 cashback it almost matches the cheapest on MSE, currently Bulb , lousy revues and some new one called Fox the Market .
Maybe the big 6 are coming back into the radar now for money savers, certainly BG are back in the mix with their All online Jan 2019 dual fuel.
.in my area the tariff quote is a very respectable 13.4 p/kwh +16.5dsc electric and gas is 2.8/kwh+ 22p dsc
The caveat which I know this lot on here will grab at is that you have to arrange for smart meters to be fitted lol.
Here we go with some "blackmail " tariffs to get you to accept a smart meter.. Great idea, get the fit and forget meters in and stop pratting around with your monthly readings

So, House Martin, given your fanatical commitment to smart metering, does this mean you will now be letting E.ON install in your own home the very Liberty Secure SMETS1 meters that you so despise?

Eon were originally fitting the very easy to read Landis and Gyr flavoured smart meters but they decided to have no regard for their customers and recently started fitting the cheaper rubbishy USA made Secure Liberty meters.
These meters make a bad advertisement for smart meters,They are truly god awful meters.
Anyone with poor sight or mobility are stumped especially when they are tucked away under the stairs, high up or in larders covered by ironing boards etc. This is the reality of where meters are placed in the UK unlike in the USA where they are placed outside and easy to get at. .
They have a fidgity little keyboard with microscopic buttons and a display which races through umpteen screens at 5 millisecs a screen, most of them may as well be in Mandarin Chinese for all the sense they make. .Eon should understand that most of the UK public are not interested in billings, they do not know what a KWH means so they should be treated like children and given a meter with big numbers which are easy to read..like the superior old analogue meters are.
Eon accountants are selfish idiots instructing them to start using these meters. They are only fit for use as business meters.Shame on you EON, I hope your customers desert you in droves in retaliation.
Micro suppliers like Ovo, Utilita can get away with it, but a not big player like Eon.

Must be a terrible dilemma for you.

He's not wrong though. They are horrible meters to read manually. (Perfectly fine as long as they stay smart though)

Crikey, who'd have thought such a simple question would illicit such an out pouring of aggression?

Thank you to those who attempted to help, I can see that for the rest it is a case of "Do as I do or you're an idiot."

I'm sure many of you can make great savings in your energy costs by choosing certain suppliers, I chose to not waste the energy in the first place and keep my bills low.

Today I saved £120 on my car insurance, I'm happy with that.

    Regards

    Mark
I don't think anyone is taking that attitude with you. They're just trying to make sure you've considered all the facts.
A lot of new users (and I'm not saying you're necessarily one of them) who come to this forum aren't all that familiar with the ins-and-outs of switching and the energy market, and often only with experience of one or two companies.

The regulars here usually have experience of multiple companies directly, and vicariously by assisting other posters.

Only you know what is best for you. If paying more for less hassle is worth it for you, that's a perfectly sound decision. But that's a subjective decision, so advice here will always lean more towards the lowest bottom line.

I can see how some of the... banter, between regulars could be seen as a bit aggressive, but that's not down to you, a few people here have a history of butting heads.

Which means, in effect, as long as the consumer then never switches suppliers again. :(

I have to confess I found the:

Shame on you EON, I hope your customers desert you in droves in retaliation.

on 24 October, particularly ironic from someone who then switched to E.ON himself, ten days later.

  • Thanks for this. My issue wasn't that other people can save vast amounts by choosing different suppliers, it was that I can't make the savings, in todays market, that others were claiming I should aspire to. I would love to have the choice of a supplier which would save me two hundred a year, who wouldn't? They just don't exist for my usage at this time.

Obviously I could still choose to go for one of the smaller suppliers but as I've already stated, my experience suggests that I will end up paying more initially and have the fun of trying to reclaim the excess after I have moved.

I'm no newbie when it comes to saving money, I managed to get this house moved down two council tax bands after I moved into it. I just object when the question I asked about is ignored by some self proclaimed evangelist who ignores the facts relating to my situation and tells me I'm wrong.

Just to be clear, when I asked the question, it had appeared in my my energy savings club as one of the best deals but there was no information anywhere about it. Subsequently an email was sent explaining the deal and how it works but on the day I posted there was nothing. Since I could find no reference, I wasn't clear if there might have been a mistake and merely asked if anyone else knew anything. Lesson learned.

If you keep a track of your spending on Excel, or something similar, you can have a real time display on how much you should be paying on DD. You can change your DD monthly, to ensure your end-of-tariff build up is negligible.
