Hi Ed,
You appear to be worried about the amount of side space Miss E takes up in bed.
My godchildren did the same in bed with their M&D's double bed but appear, miraculously, to fit into their single beds perfectly well.
I'm not sure how this has happened, but it appears that Marie Kondo may have paid a visit at about the time the single beds were purchased! :rotfl:Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

PB, I'm honestly not sure where you're getting this from, I've made a couple of comments about how she likes to sprawl, but our main thought re. larger than single was the possibility of an adult lying beside her for a short while to encourage sleep
£0.77 paid off a CC.
Mrs E is tired and grumpy. We get one lie in each at the weekend. I sacrificed mine yesterday to wait for the washing machine delivery guys arriving and was told that this shouldn't affect Mrs E still managing to get hers today as "you'll get some time off when I take DD out". She took DD out, I took some time off, she is now in a mood :rotfl:0 -

Perhaps I've misread it but given that you seem to think that single beds are shorter than they are, is it so illogical to think that, given your comments on how much space Miss E takes up in your double bed, that you might think that DD might struggle as a 'starfish sleeper' in a single?
Glad your washing machine has been replaced so promptly: I could cope without many household devices (and do) but a washing machine or fridge freezer would be a big  for me!Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

Who caught up on the laundry, or was the delivery so fast there wasn't any catchup needed?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I caught up on the laundry (well, I processed it all, Mrs E folded a lot of it). What would have taken 6 loads previously was 4 loads in the new machine :j
I'm trying to find a quickwash cycle that is effective and won't knacker the machine. The 14 and 28 minute cycles are great, but the machine is only meant to be 1/3 full. The 59 minute cycle is also fabby, but again, only meant to be 1/2 full. I was all excited about the 20 degree 'Eco' cycle, but for all the blather, I'm not convinced it got things as clean as we need (work shirt pits, I'm looking at you ) If Z is reading, why can't I just run the 28 cycle with a full load?
The weekend was quite enjoyable, not marked by the recent Sunday blues and bickering that have been so prevalent of late. Sleep was still non-existent, so I'm guessing that the difference was getting the housework out of the way quicker and trying to give each other a little bit of personal time, albeit very short duration? We even managed to end the week with a proper sit down dinner of pork fillet Wellington with roast kalettes and veggie stuffing
Back at work today and it's freezing!
Trying to get my head back into finances and the last fortnight has been horrific in terms of NW - I think we've surrendered ££££ in a week
Debt repayment is (thankfully) looking a little healthier. £283.17 paid off a CC (regular payment and the 3rd batch of CB borrowed from DD) and an expected mini milestone has been reachedWe have now passed under £25k total debt and under £19k actual debt (debt minus savings). I'd estimate another 3 weeks 'til we go under 60% total credit utilisation, but I'm pleased as the repayment is now sustainable as we're budgeting better and I have no fear that the outstanding will suddenly bounch back up.
Edit: thanks to the slowly moving snowball of virtue, subsequent regular payments have fallen by £2/week.
Edit the 2nd: I saw this article about Germans and attitudes to savings linked to over the weekend: https://www.ft.com/content/c8772236-2b93-11e8-a34a-7e7563b0b0f4?desktop=true. Like all these things, the drama was in the comments, well worth a read!0 -
Can't access that link but I do enjoy reading comments in articles like that!Updating soon...0

That's an odd one Courgette, I was able to access it?0

It's probably my brick phone that's the problem rather than the link.
Does it say 'Germans are ace at saving and prioritise the longer term over the shorter' and then do all the comments say 'its all right for them, they don't need blah blah blah'?If it does, I've probably already read it

Your comments definitely cover some of the 400+ contributions made, but it was a bit more detailed than that. Good discussions about the relationship between savings and debt, structural imbalances and the nature of the Eurozone. Everything from people saying "duh", to accusations of racism :rotfl:0
