But as you're eating on and off throughout the day ... yep, I see what you mean

Yesterday was exhausting, but ended up being a very positive day
- I finished C25K and have started C210K - apparently I should be able to run 10k in 5 weeks :rotfl:
- £964.37 paid off a CC, with another £75 or so to go today. 4 left :j
- Updated the spreadsheets and made myself a low calorie packed lunch as tonight's dinner looks monstrous/delicious
Large payment was the combined efforts of robbing the car replacement line of the budget (and savings), no Council Tax month, reducing grocery and home maintenance budgets and stopping car maintenance and electronics budgets for the moment.0 -

The Wrigleys gum I keep in my bag is in a cardboard box with 14 strips of gum (not candy coated) that are individually wrapped in paper. Yes, it comes in a cellophane cover round the box but the rest of the packaging is biodegradable. Not sure about the gum itself but it used to be made from natural plant-based polymers and latex (both biodegradable).
I have just checked. http://www.wrigley.com/uk/about-us/ingredients.aspx now I want to find a plant based gum...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

SL - are the strips of gum coated in paper with a foil backing? Because that's not recyclable through normal means. I think part of the problem is that, even when you find a plant-based gum, it doesn't really matter unless you put it into food recycling or similar. Plant-based gum stuck in a binbag is still going to take forever to break down because the bag has to degrade first. I think perhaps I just need to find a decent zero waste mint that uses xylitol or similar.0

I was just about to suggest mints Ed - you could make some yourself.... I have a recipe somewhere.....*trots off*.... I do, it's in a book - happy to send you a pic of it (can you do that by PM?)
I'd be more concerned about the impact of the plastic you're chewing.... yuck!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I think you can send pics via PM, as long as you have access to a free online image hosting service like Imgur? Alternatively, if you remember the name of the book/recipe, chances are someone has already shared it online?0

No, it isn't that pack. It is just ordinary paper - which I wrap the used gum in, put it in my handbag and dispose of in my food bin (in a biodegradable liner that goes on my compost heap until it has all converted into compost). Here is a link on my supermarket to the pack (which I now believe is not a plant-based gum any more):
