Haha, you might be right. One is DS's car (but my name is on the V5 so I get the reminders and as I am the only one who apparently does admin, I just do their worrying for them...
Payday here is not until after the 31st - very frustrating but now only shopping every ten-days to two-weeks - so it is just the timing of bills that frustrates.

Payday come and gone£28 paid into Premium Bonds, savings pot now stands at £513. I also booked 3 (free) tickets to the National Museum of Scotland for our Edinburgh trip over the September weekend. I donated £5, which I figured was fair enough as we'd usually have coffee and cakes or lunch at the café which is closed, so no profit for them there.Looking at the September budget in YN@B, I figure we're about £300 short including savings, although the amount needed for savings will need to go up anyway. That's not so bad, 2x CB benefits will cover about £170? of that and that will leave about £130 to cover. Time to get my lazy eB@ying butt in gear + a few budget lines won't happen in September anyway (DD drama classes and swimming lessons spring to mind).Tootling on with work, reviewing a huge amount of reports that should keep me busy up to the end of next week...7

Garage found us most of a replacement wing mirror for £58.99. Total fix should be under £100, which is 40% of the worst case scenario!7

No sleep last night, feeling rotten today. Had a nap late afternoon, just an hour, so hopefully not enough to interfere with tonight's snooze.
£28 paid into Premium Bonds, savings at £541.
Went to mini golf today, which was ok. Unfortunately Mrs E "sided" with DD who pestered us to have lunch at the golf course cafe. It was quite unpleasant (loaded with mayo) and I felt we wasted £50 for a morning out4 -
I didn't have much sleep the night before last but managed a 12 hour shift the next day with ease, last night had a great sleep, trouble was when alarm went off this morning (for another 12 hour shift) I was so comfy and thought just another 5 mins which turned into 35 mins. Which meant up, washed, dressed, out the door and at the bus stop in 20 mins flat. Phew !!!! In short - don't sleep in !!!
Shame you didn't enjoy lunch, but hope DD did. I've also started at the start of Aug buying PB's and excited to see the draw in Sept - even if I don't win, it's another novelty for the moment.Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.193 -
I try to tell myself it isn't all about the food when that happens, it is about a precious time together. However, I would really resent spending £50 on something awful. So many office Christmas Dinners in restaurants that are not really hitting the mark come to mind, along with "special treat" high-spend weekends that fail to live up to hopes and expectations. I'd rather pay them off the mortgage (similar gone, with little to show for it feelings, until I got going on here)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

@A_Frayed_Knot - last night was my turn for the lovely sleep and almost sleeping late today! I woke up convinced it was the weekend, body like jelly to discover that it was 07:40 and I had 20 minutes to start work!
At least I was WFH...
I picked up another £28 of Premium Bonds today, savings pot now up to £569. I know what you mean re. it being a novelty - it's basically my substitute for the lottery.@Suffolk_lass - precious time as a family is a funny thing, isn't it? Sometimes the nicest episodes in life cost nothing (like this morning when DD snuggled up to me on the couch as I sipped coffee) and sometimes a fancy restaurant meal or a holiday provide lasting memories. The lunch didn't really tick any of those boxes, but it's done now.No sign of any eB@y activity yet, although Mrs E has expressed an interest in selling some once worn dresses that she thinks might make a few ££. I'm finding my full working hours to be exhausting, need to get back into the swing of things.7 -
This weekend started with bad tempered grumping, luckily t'intenet ether ate that post. It ended better, plodding on.£28 paid into Premium Bonds, savings total up to £625. Looking forward to work tomorrow, going to get rid of a piece of work that's been annoying me for nearly a fortnight.5

You know you can always have a moan on here if you need to. We are here to listen and empathise or reinforce any ranting that needs it. Car fixed yesterday, lovely garage only charged £30 to swap over the replacement part and to polish the door. I'd say it's a 90% job (can still see a few small scuffed/discoloured patches at the bottom of the mirror), but can very much live with that. £88.99 versus the £280 odds it would have been for an original manufacturer's part)!I made the somewhat mad decision to walk back from the garage in the pouring rain, taking in our local coffee roaster and two supermarkets in my 6.5 mile walk
I'm done in now, but Mrs E is taking the little one to the park in a couple of hours, so things are looking up
Another £28 added to Premium Bonds, savings total up to £681 (think I made a mistake in my last post). That's it for now, have a lovely weekend all.6
