If your tax code ends in an S just be careful. There is a warning on the cutting tax forum that says that the Scottish codes will not be correct until May.

Just a heads up for those of us north of the border. The 2020-21 tax rates will not be implemented until after 10th May and backdated to 6th April so there will be a slight overpayment to be corrected in the first pay after 10th May. Only a very small difference but it may confuse some of the on line tax calculators.Originally posted by molerat

Hi Skinty, nice to see you in the land of t'interwebI have been volunteering for the last couple of days on a shielding helpline. It is interesting, although I feel a little guilty that I don't have definitive answers for a lot of the questions that I am asked! It is staggering just how easy it is to become "vulnerable", people are calling in with what I would describe as well developed support networks and they're still powerless to help because of social distancing. On the other hand, I'm getting a little frustrated with people calling in saying that they have helpful neighbours, but that they don't want to bother them. That's what helpful neighbours are for - I don't know what is so awkward about us Brits that we'd rather phone the cooncil for help than text Fred from next door and ask him to get 2 pints of milk and eggs when he's out! I've had a few friends and family members who have had to self-isolate and I've made a point of contacting them regularly to see what they needed. I'm sure most people are the same.£50.84 paid off CC.5

Am working again today Beanie, but nobody is calling! Maybe enjoying the warmer day?

Well done Ed for volunteering. I suspect the problem is that people don't normally talk to Fred and it just seems rather awkward. That's not to say that they shouldn't, nor that Fred wouldn't be more than willing to help, mind you! Maybe as it's warmer, everyone is out talking over their fences (at a safe distance) and bonding and things will be quieter for you soon.

Back to my real job after boss secured some laptops. Working 1/2 days and feeling very stressed out (look after daughter in the morning, work lunch-dinner). Boss very demanding, head not yet in the game after a couple of days of work and IT not perfect. I am not enjoying this regimented indoor life2
