Aaaand another £3 chipped away from a CC (H@lifax reward). I am very much looking forward to starting my new job and getting the wee pay bump at the end of the month0

£17.87 paid off a CC (pot for breakdown cover that is no longer required). Will check the policy and see whether I'm due any sort of refund if I cancel it now.0

No money news, but I had a lovely afternoon in the park with my little girl
We tramped through mud, kicked leaves, dropped leaves off bridges and went for an ice cream together. If only every day was like that.

Super woo! Despite the miserable weather and a week of MB in which my luck seemed go sideways, it appears things are on the turn. I have made £80+ today (including all three winners in one race) and have found 3 good bookies who I am no longer gubbed with (i.e. am still able to get free bets and other valuable offers)0

£82.80 paid off a CC, total utilisation is now below 45%. I have found a new purpose in paying down the debts, but we are struggling to cut our spending in any meaningful way.
All CCs are also below 60% utilisation, my next mini goal will be to have no card with a balance of over £5,000. That should be fairly straightforward, will basically need to scare up £100 from somewhere.
Next month is looking a little pricey. DD is growing well and we've decided to move her to a small double bed (there seems to be little price difference between this and a decent single). There is, however, basically no budget for this (so ideas on a postcard) Probably looking at £300 for bed, mattress and bedding.0 -
I'm buying DD's bed on F@cebook although I probably won't keep the mattress. There seem to be a lot of bedframes available as people move or change their furniture. Bedding-wise 1kea is good I think and I've picked up some nice stuff from TKM@xx and even Freecycle. DD isn't super fussed about bedding so I tend to have say one nice set (I buy from J0hn Lewis when my vouchers from the CC come through) then a couple of workaday sets from other sources.Choose kind0

Hi Ed, we recently just upgraded our sons bed from toddler to full size, we found Gumtree worked for us (fantastic quality wooden High-Sleeper) would have been £500+ new cost to us £25, we repainted it in the exact colour to match DS bedroom which he selected himself and thus loves. I went for a basic John Lewis mattress which DS says is mega comfy (cost £90 plus £5 discount from spending £50 on my JL card), new single winter duvet was from sparks £20 (bought with survey vouchers). It was abit more work but not much more than ikea or similar as the fancy bed was easier to put together than a cheaper one. In all we saved at least £200 quid. Duvet cover was hand me down and he will be getting a new lego one for Christmas as a present. It took me about 3 weeks to find the bed on gumtree. Totally worth it so we could have a summer holiday and the new bed!0

Thanks guys. I hadn't really considered secondhand (which is daft, I know). There doesn't seem to be much on Gumtree in my neck of the woods, but there were a few £25 bed frames further afield. I'll broach the topic with Mrs E and see where she stands - I have no issue painting a bed frame etc. to match the room1
