We are collecting stellar pans (found amazon to have quite good prices).
they cook beautifully - I can even make pancakes now! - but we don't put them in the dishwasher, having said that they clean up very easily because nothing ever burns.weaving through the chaos...0 -
I have a pair of Berndes pans, that we got as a wedding present 15 years ago, they have the stainless steel handles as well.
Both still like new, and used every day.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I absolutely love my mother's Le Creuset - they are very heavy, but she bought them from her wedding gift money in '78 and they're still used everyday
No teflon to come off in your porridge either...
One day, I plan to own set in blue!0 -
Amazon are doing Le Creuset sets half price at the minute! Have a Le Creuset casserole (free find when clearing a house!!)& it's brilliant!0

brabantia are a very good make of ss pans also, and anolon.
i have pans from both makes and knives from anolon ,and they are built to last.
for the best basic iron frying pan,nip to your nearest rst and ask the chef where to get one, every major rst in the world uses the same one pretty much and they are totally unbreakable and not to heavy:D0 -
I have just bought a Woll pan. They are German, supplied from a firm in Nottingham, come with safety glass lids, are completely non stick (you can cook with very little or no fat), and have removable handles so you can use them on the hob or in the oven. They are not cheap, but not so much as Le Creuset. What is more, they arrive two days after ordering and if you have any questions, you can email and they email back straight away! Their web address is http://www.directcookware.com/html/submenu_wollpans.html/ see what you think - and no, I don't work for them! I hadn't even heard of them till recently, but saw a demo at some event, and followed up via their website. Just very impressed by excellent customer service (they don't charge p&p either) and I LOVE my new pan!0

We love these pans http://www.cookware.co.uk/shop/Cookware/T304ProAnodised/d1/sd70 theyre not the cheapest but they are wonderful, light and they just wipe clean its fantastic, even at their worst a five minute soak loosens the food enough to clean easily. They have also stood up happily to my 2 year olds makeshift drum kits so im willing to bet theyll last a good while to come, weve had them about 3 years now and they still look brand new.

I have 3 large Judge pans. They are about 7/8 years old, stainless steel and they still look like new. Glass lids and black handles that don't get hot. It was the first time I had used a frying pan that hadn't got a 'non stick' surface and I much prefer it - things still don't stick but I can scrub it if necessary (which it rarely is unless DS cooks
). Its still nice and shiny
I've also got a set of 3 blue small Judge non stick saucepans. Same age and still going. Not quite so 'in love' with those as I do love my stainless steel but they are the longest I've ever managed to keep basic saucepans.
If ever I needed a new one, which I can't see happening for some considerable time I'd go for Judge or Stella again.I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0 -
I love Le Creuset. They can be heavy though. I have two milk pans - non stick, one large frying pan which I ordered a lid for, 2 casseroles and a marmitout ( pan with a small fry pan lid). They are one of the best things I've ever bought. Mine are the old blue. I got most of them reduced as they have brought out a newer blue now which is slightly different.
I also have two large Prestige s/steel pans which I wouldn't be without. Got them in a sale half price.
I'd recommend them to anyone as long as they didn't mind the weight.A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -
Stellar and Judge are actually made by the same company - Horwood I beleive. Stellar are their premium brand but from looking at both in store here, the difference in quality mainly relates to the degree of polish on the outside.
I've "Bloke cooked" in a set of Judge pans for at least 8 years. Despite my best (or should that be worst) efforts at burning stuff on them they always come up clean.
My ones have stainless steel rather than glass lids and the plastic handles - the only slight issue I've had is that every 6 months or so one handle works loose but 2 seconds with a screwdriver and its ready for punishment.
I guess I'm lucky in that the above mentioned store sells showroom samples off cheaper a couple of times a year so I can add odd bits to the set - e.g. I've added a steamer (I think it was actually a Stellar one but it matches) which was literally just the "pan" with holes in that fits between an existing pan and lid. I'm looking for another one next time round so we can have two tiers!
Can't beieve I'm on here extolling saucepans - where's that car site!Adventure before Dementia!0
