The tracking for DBS says at bottom

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please wait for the Certificate before making a recruitment, employment or licensing decision regarding this applicant. The issuing of a Certificate by the DBS does not mean that the applicant is deemed suitable to take up the position applied for. A decision on suitability can only be made by the recruiting or licensing body based on the information revealed as a result of the Certificate and other factors.

    What could this be?
I’ve never been in trouble for anything

they're just covering themselves . They're basically saying we've got no record of any problem but we won't be held liable if it turns out you've hired a psycho
Standard practice , nothing to worry about
  • Thank you

Was trying to work out what it was as I’ve never been in any trouble at all

I do DBS checks as part of my current job. Some take longer than others and the time taken is no indication of anything to be concerned about.

I've had forms that has taken 6 months (not exaggerating). But where mine is different though is that my applicants are prospective foster carers and adopters so a child will be in the home. All agencies who apply for DBS are asked whether the applicant is 'working from home'. In my case as children will be in the home and staying overnight I have to tick 'yes' and this triggers a stricter level of checking.

Wow! that is slow as fudge! You'd think DBS checks could be done strait away like ANPR or something. In this world of electronic communication, there should seldom be a need to "send off" for something, it's ridiculous.
Sometimes my advice may not be great, but I'm not perfect and I do try my best. Please take this into account.

I used to work for Disclosure, doing PVG checks (Scottish equivalent of DBS) and this was a busy time of year, with all the 'Santa' applications.

Just to warn you, if your application takes longer than you expect, not to panic - it's probably just a busy time.

Even Santa needs to be checked out nowadays. :rotfl:
