DBS Check?

Hey everyone

Happy to announce I got the job in the care home!!!
Had to take some ID in on Saturday to get the DBS check started and was told it would be sent off on Monday.
Since I can’t start til my DBS check comes back I was wondering how long these take?
I know it will come back all clear as I’ve never had any trouble

Thanks guys

Mine have always been within a fortnight. Congratulations
  • Thank you

Had to take quite a bit of paper work in since I don’t have any Photo ID
Bank statements, NI Card, Bills etc but I have lived at same address for more than 5 years.
  • Depends if they use the online DBS service or paper based service.

Where i work we use the online service and they can come back within days, had some come back within 24 hours before. Paper based then 1 week to over a month it all depends, usually the police check part is the slowest bit.

Don't hand your notice in at your current employer before all the checks are done and you have confirmation from your new employer. :)
  • I don’t have a current employer so that’s not a problem

Had the interview on Friday and an hour after I got a call saying I was a perfect fit for the company and they would like to offer me the job.
They asked me to bring paper work in ASAP for an enhanced DBS check which I took in first thing Saturday morning and they went through and photocopied it all for me.

I’m really excited to start, its 41 hours a week on night shifts in a care home which I’ve done before, They did say I can apply to move onto Days in time as they don’t have any positions yet but I must say I am happy to do Nights

There is no way of knowing how long it will take, but it tends to be longer if you've moved around a bit (because more police authorities to be contacted).

  • Lived in the same place for over 5 years and always lived in the same area if that helps?

Mine took about 8 days in total - I've lived in the same place for over 20 years so I guess that helped.

At my last place of work, a colleague waited 6 months for theirs but it had to go through Metropolitan Police who had a huge backlog. Guessing yours won't go through Met Police.
Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free :)
    Mortgage free since 2014 :)
  • Not to sound dumb but what’s Met Police?
