Note - "assembled" - from components made outside the UK. BMW made a great killing out of that particular con.

Mini production may well become yet another victim of Brexit.

    And your source for that?

Yet another victim? Which victims are there already? I've not seen any.

Exactly. We were well in Europe in 2012.

Maybe the Swindon body plant and the Hams Hall engine plant are figments of somebody's imagination?

Graz, btw, doesn't build Minis any more - the former DAF/Volvo/Mitsubishi Nedcar plant replaced it a while back.
  • My mini was 5 weeks from order to delivery from the UK factory with various add ons that weren't part of the standard Pepper or Chili packs. They told me the build slots available from what their computer said in the dealership so went for the earliest they had, obviously. I didn't change the spec but I would have assumed a minor change like the steering wheel would be an easy amendment without needing to book a different build slot if you told them within 7 days of ordering the car. Unless the steering wheel was out of stock and wouldn't be available by the build slot you'd booked? Seems a bit off to cancel that slot and have to book a later one but if that's what they've done then there's not a lot you can do about it.

As for value, it'll still be a 67 plate no matter when it gets registered so I doubt it'll make much difference.

Out of date info, as already pointed out.

Also any car plant that has a BIW facility and paint shop does a lot more than just "assemble" the cars.

Components are sourced from all over the world for all car manufactures, do you really think that Renault, Citroen etc all only use components made by themselves in France? :rotfl:

Yes 30 years ago there would have been more stuff made "in house" but it has not been like that in the motor manufacturing industry for many years with most "non value added" functions outsourced to specialist firms.

Cheers. I'm picking up on other sites that standard delivery is 6 weeks, so I'm incredibly confused as to why the wait is now three months from original order.
It has all been incredibly vague since handing over my deposit.
  • It may well be that the dealer has already used up his allocation of orders and therefore is unable to place the order until his new allocation from the manufacturer becomes available

There's no such thing as a standard delivery. Your car is being built to order and, as you've discovered, there can be many reasons why an order gets legitimately delayed.

How long is it from when you changed the order? That's the point you should be focusing on since the original order is no longer valid.

It was nine days after the original order that I changed the spec. That nine days has added an extra 7-8 weeks to the time to delivery
