Of course the driver was responsible in the Edinburgh fatality...
That's just speculation at this point, based on rumor. There is nothing in the press to suggest that and an investigation is in progress.0 -
Cyclists frequently cause problems for both motorists and pedestrians.
Don't be so silly!
Cyclist cause far fewer problems than motorists! How many people are killed and seriously injured by motorists each year? And how many by cyclists?
Neighbourhoods have been turned into "no go areas" simply as a result of the noise, pollution and dangers to life that motor vehicles cause.0 -
One of the biggest problems that motorists cause is parking their vehicles on roads.
A single car can cause huge tailbacks. When you've got 100m of parked cars on a busy road, preventing traffic from passing in both directions, it's a huge problem.
Cars litter our High Streets. Round here people park on roundabouts and blind-bends. These physical and visual obstructions are dangerous. There are frequent near-misses on the zebra crossings in our village because pedestrians are hard to spot behind the mass of parked cars. And, because motorists are too selfish to use the short bypass that joins the adjacent A-roads, they rat-run through our village, rarely observing the 20mph speed limit.
A new housing estate has just been built, with plenty of off-road parking spaces and garages. Yet these go unused and people dump their cars right next to the big "no parking" signs along the road. Drivers don't notice children playing behind the cars, and there have been a number of close calls here.
Selfish motorists have made our streets unsafe, unsightly, polluted and dangerous.
Obviously many car drivers are responsible law-abiding citizens, but there are so many who aren't, and they cause so many problems on our roads that something needs to be done to protect the public.0 -
