Warning to Horse Riders

I'd say the same goes not just for horse riders and cyclists but pedestrians as well. More than once recently someone has stepped out ahead of our car to cross the road dressed all in black - not easy to see at all.0

Would be a more constructive use of your time than sounding off on here would it not ??:p

Why do you think the two actions are mutually exclusive?0 -
21st century, horses should be in fields not on roads IMO.0

The local horse stables & school have a hi viz dress code outside the paddock - we've asked the secondary school they're associated with to implement the same idea with pupils, as the smart new uniform black blazer & trousers is terrifyingly hard to see.
Why the riding part of the school is ready to invest in protective gear for themselves but not make it part of the pupils uniform is just one of those biting ironies.0 -

I live in the countryside and think it's delightful to see horseriders. Even though there is a riding stables in the village we don't encounter them very often.
Cyclists are much more of a nuisance simply by virtue of the number of them.0 -

Motorists are even more of a nuisance because they outnumber horse-riders and cyclists many times over.
An unlit horse/bike rider is risking their own lives, but poor behaviour by motorists can result in them maiming or killing innocent people.0 -
Haven't been riding for many years but was nearly caught out once with a friend when something went wrong and the light was fading fast so, as we were on a retired pacer and a retired trotter we made an exception to the usual take it easy and had an exhilarating fast trot down the road until we came to safety. It sounds like something like that happened to the lady in the OP's post.
But I wish motorists on those country lanes would remember that 60mph isn't an aim but a maximum, and if he can't see round the corner due to high hedges etc. you should be able to stop if needs be, whether it's a cyclist, pedestrian, horse rider or broken down lorry..0 -

imo thats how you tell who is used to driving on country roads and who isn't. Anyone who has ever driven regularly on country roads will have had experience of how someone can be coming round a corner the exact same time in the opposite direction - perhaps even on a stretch of road that isn't wide enough for 2 cars to pass. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Are you suggesting cars should be banned from the road then?0
