Help needed with accident

Hi all,
So a woman ran into the back of my car today and my fianc!e was driving. Not much damage to my car, just scratches down the bumper. Her insurance have contacted us and want to pay for repair and hire car but when I contacted my insurance they advised if I go with her insurance I will lost all rights to complain to the ombudsman if something went wrong during the claim process. My insurance gave me 2 options, go with her insurance, do everything and it doesn’t go down as a claim against my insurance or go through my insurance, they will waiver the excess as the accident wasn’t my fianc!es fault but when I come to renew it might bump up my price as this method counts as a claim. Going through the other persons insurance doesn’t so shouldn’t affect renewal price. What should I do?
Thanks

If you claim off her insurance it'll still be a non fault claim come renewal time.0 -
Best by far to use her insurance then there's:
1) no chance of blame suddenly shifting to 50/50 due to your insurance company being lazy
2) no expensive credit hire car which you might not get fully reimbursed for.
3) I think not claiming off your own insurance goes down better at renewal time.
4) The third-parties insurance will allow a much higher repair figure before writing off the car than will your own insurer. Usually 100% of value rather than 66%.0 -
If you go directly with third party insurers, ask them to provide you with a courtesy car with 0 excess or they pay for the collision damage waiver for the courtesy car they provide you with.
you can always go to your own insurers and make a claim if third party don't play ball0 -
Thanks for the help guys! Couple more questions, the other woman’s insurance called tonight and spoke to my fianc!e, advised that the hire car would be a Ford Focus or something similar! We have a Land Rover Freelander 2, could I fight for a courtesy car in the same size class as this, rather than a small hatch back? Also, fianc!e now has a bad headache and saying her right shoulder is sore, should she get checked out by a doctor tomorrow or is this common in a rear end shunt?0

Just being a little mischievous here, but is it relevant that " a woman" as opposed to "somebody" or "another driver" drove into the back of your car?
I ask because I've seen other threads on here where references to the ethnicity of other drivers have been questioned as to their relevance, and I wonder whether it applies to sex as well...0 -

Can't you mange with a focus for a day?0 -
Hi, nope doesn’t matter if it was a woman or man, just the way I wrote it. We bought the Freelander because we needed the boot size, daughters pram and I carry a lot of stuff to and from work so I genuinely think we’d struggle with a small hatch back, even if it was for a day. Don’t really want to make a claim to be honest! People claim all to easy and i feel it bumps up the insurance premiums, it’s up to my fianc!e though0
