If you go directly with third party insurers, ask them to provide you with a courtesy car with 0 excess or they pay for the collision damage waiver for the courtesy car they provide you with.
you can always go to your own insurers and make a claim if third party don't play ball
If the OP has to pay an excess for their own car, receiving a hire car with zero excess would put them in a better position than they would be in than if they were in their own car. The most you can expect is for the hire car insurance to match the OP's excess.0 -
