What is it that they say about 'Great minds' :rotfl: :rotfl:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi Guys,
Just so Im not going mad, my first letter was received by Thames Credit on 03-09-2007. By my calculations the 12+2 days were up on 17-09-2007 and the full 12+2+30 days were up on the 16-10-2007. Have I calculated this right??

Yes - there is always some confusion as to what constitutes 'working days' which is why the 2 days are added on to the initial 12 day period. The 30 day period serves only to confirm that they have, in fact, committed a criminal offence, so no need to make allowances for non-working days.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. Hello weller711,this post is gives me hope of reclaiming the monies paid to the dca i had paid over a 3 year period, can you provide any details of how your claim was settled eg did all the money already paid to dca get refunded ?
Also did they argue the claim? i posted a simular question before and was put off claiming the money back from the dca as this was deemed "voluntary"this was of course before i found out that the 1974 consumer credit act was around to protect your rights
The dca in question has up till recently pursued their "claim" for me to pay up long after the expiry date of my right to the documents the dca should have had in the first place to ask me to pay for the alleged debt as it turns out.
I was so furious at the dca disregard for my rights under the 1974 act that i have contacted my local trading standards office who are investigating my case.
Also my local Trading standards officer has copies of my letters to and from the dca so will wait for the result of my complaint.as he came to my house to look at my complaint great service indeed
So i urge fellow posters on this forum to contact the trading standards office if the dca`s fall foul of the rules set out by the 1974 act.
I know the postal dispute has held things up but to date letters drom the dca havent been received,i will await further developements
Regards M

Thanks for the template letter. If all goes to plan,i'll send that one off in 30days from today.
My only concern is that do you really really believe i can get back all the money i've paid to them?I mean, these are DCA's and are highly unlikely,i'd of thought,to repay this money?Do you think i should leave sleeping dogs lie so to speak.0 -
I'd also be interested to know if anyone has successfully claimed money back from DCA's.0

Just looking through all my paperwork. I noticed a letter from a company called JD Debt Recovery (Olympia Capital ASA) from June 2004 claiming I owed them just over £600. Low and behold this letter has the same account reference number as the latest one from Thames Credit which is now over £1100......bewildering!!!

Hello uncle pablo, that doesnt surprise me with the ref number,Thames are part of AKTIV Kapital who took over Olympia`s business i believe.
AKtiv was originally a Norwegian company who are based here under the names of Thames Credit hence the same ref numbers you have.
Take a look here

Dont believe the hype
