maybe if people read the FAQ's they would see that UGG is actually the style of footwear, not brand.

    quoted from the above website

Do you sell the "UGG Australia" sheepskin boots?
We get this question regularly and the answer is NO! We sell our own products, manufactured here in Melbourne, Australia by Binder Productions Pty Ltd. We are not affiliated to the US company that own the UGG Australia brand - called Deckers. The word Ug,Ugh,Ugg has been associated with a style (not brand)of footwear for many years in Australia so you will find many people advertising ug,ugg or ugh boots. The word ugg is found in the Macquarie Dictionary. Most of the UGG AustraliaTM production occurs in China and not in Australia.

I think this is a very useful post from alwaysonthego (even if it is a few years old).
I must admit that I thought UGG was a brand name rather than the style of boots.

I signed up today to get some practical advice for my granddaughter's birthday present (she wants 'uggs' and I couldn't care less if that's the brand name or not!), and straight away see nasty little comments like this one. Is this what the MSE forum is like then? I had a look around at some other comments on different subjects, and I notice the same thing going on.

Like my old dad used to say 'if you can't say something useful, keep it shut!'. Good advice?

Maybe you should check with your granddaughter if SHE understands what UGG boots are - otherwise she may be disappointed with what you buy her.

I'm not being 'nasty' here - just trying to give you some advice to ensure you don't fall into the trap that the OP did by assuming that UGG was a brand.

BTW, in case you haven't already searched, there are numerous threads on here about UGGs, including this one with 32 pages of posts:

She probably wants the branded ones. So I would check before you waste your money.

I have to agree. This used to be quite a friendly place to come - not any more it seems.

And if you're going to be nasty at least try to use at least some punctuation.

Definitely. I am sick of people being sarcastic or condescending towards others who are just asking for help or offering advice. It's pretty sad when people feel that bad about themselves they have to make others feel inferior.

Yes, she does I'm afraid, so it's an arm and a leg! Still, 18th birthdays only come around once and she's worth it. I did get a shock though when I saw the price, but have looked at reviews for cheaper versions and I think it would be money down the drain, judging by what I've read.

I agree, and why do they have to SHOUT? I find that quite insulting. I might be past my prime but I'm not deaf yet ;)

(Yes I know, I should have tagged this one to previous - I'm new here, please bear with me!)

Im sorry you didnt find my post helpful. But it appears people have to repeat things on here because if you look at the post i quoted they were mentioning about 'Good copies'.

EDIT: Do you think its fair that good honest companies who make Ugg boots and sell them get tarnished that their goods are fake when they are not? Is that fair and nice to that company is it?

Its ok you dont have to answer - I think we all know the answer

Uggs are not copies of anything apart from other Uggs as I and other people have pointed out.

The above is duly noted and much appreciated. To explain - it was your remark 'you must be hard of reading' that I thought unnecessary and sarcastic. It's one thing to blurt something out when you're having a debate, but typed responses give plenty of time to weigh up how something might appear to someone else. Perhaps that person is 'hard of reading' for some reason or another? And why do you have to use caps as if you are SHOUTING?

I've looked around on this forum and I see people getting uptight for no reason. Healthy debates are just that - healthy, but jumping on someone because of a particular word or phrase is tantamount to bullying and not at all constructive. And all this over the word 'ugg'!

You appear to be getting up tight, not me. The reason i used caps on one word was to emphasise my point - it doesnt always mean that your shouting - thats a bit of an internet myth.

Im not jumping all over anyone. Read the thread from the top to where i made the post. Notice how it has already been established by another poster that Ugg is a style of boot and not a brand of boot. Then read the post where someone has made the mistake again of saying that they got copies.Copies of what exactly?

You see where im coming from. Maybe if they got copies of Ugg Australia branded boots then they may have a point- but they havent.

If people are not going to bother to read things properly before they start typing then the only way to get the message accross to them is to emphasise the point again and make it stand out - hence the use of caps for one word.

All fair points. Sorry if I appeared uptight. I'm truly not - very rarely get annoyed, which is probably my problem or maybe I'm a bit too old in the tooth.

I didn't realise caps weren't always shouting, so apologies for that misunderstanding too. You make some very good points.
