Spent £11.79 in Morrisons today for some meat and things as I had a £5 off meat voucher
Our meat for the week sorted!
On £103.79/300 but I’ve stocked up on cat food and washing gelFamily of 4 and a cat, trying to reduce outgoings GC JAN £225.94/£250 GC FEB £93.20/£2500 -
First shop for November was £21 giving £21/£120 spent so far0

I add all spends to my budget as soon as the money leaves my account - because I know I'll forget otherwise
In keeping with the above - I received a £20 of £80 shop Ocado code this week.
Ocado have some good quality basics as well a few luxury items I enjoy and - with a discount code - don't tend to cost more than my normal shops.
I've had a look through the stocks today and written a rough meal plan for the month.
I've taken full advantage of the code with a £66 basket planned and delivery is scheduled for the 18th - with the ability to amend, cancel or add it up until the 17th - I recon that should be enough to see me through the month in style.
I'll update with the exact amount when dispatched/when the money is actually taken from my account.
Total spend so far = £104.64/£150That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I have written a meal plan and shopping list for the week, this week will be expensive as I am out the habit of cooking from scratch so will need a few store cupboard ingredients.
new things I plan to try this week (thanks to the links at beginning of thread)
vegetable lasagna - adapted from UK canning site
malt loaf (CG recipe)
cream topping with dried milk
Ideas welcome for a recipe that uses left over hotdog rolls, ideally something that will work if I freeze them to use next week (neither son or I like bread that has been frozen). Previously I would throw them out0 -

Savoury bread and butter pudding with bacon, onion and cheese?
I serve it like a quiche with beans.
Uses fresh or frozen bread and you can make ahead and freeze - just leave the cheese off the top and add it when you put it frozen in the oven. That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

I am setting a budget and a target, the plan is to come in under budget closer to target and the amount 'saved' is going into my sealed pot challenge. I will need to wait until end of the month before I put the money in the pot as some weeks I might see a saving but others need to use that money.
Budget - weekly
£25 work - this allows for cooked breakfast, cooked dinner and drinks every day (subsidised canteen) I should be able save on this by taking in own drinks and cutting back on full breakfasts to just have toast/porridge.
£10.50 school dinners - no saving there.
£35.00 evening meals/toiletries/laundry.- this is a complete guess on the amount. As I eat a main meal at work I really only need a snack at teatime but have to eat something resembling a meal to encourage fussy eater son to eat something.
Total budget £70.00 :eek: target set at £60 (if I can save £10 per week I will be happy)
Will be back later once I have written meal plan.

Yes he has pancakes every morning. Which means I get an egg and milk into him everyday , we will skip over the nutella he has on them I don't have time to eat breakfast before I leave. His breakfast cost will come out of the main food budget.
He is a very fussy eater, waiting to be assessed for autism. I believe he has sensory processing disorder as its not just food he is fussy about its clothes/other textures as well. if its not on his 'list' he wont eat it trying to change that, making a meal plan he can be involved with will hopefully help.0 -
the "no spend" plan did not work as I was in London today and went to Whole Foods. They have many yummy vegan things I can't get anywhere else, so I'm home with some (many!) delicious sausages and some nut cheese. £22.91 but will be worth every penny!
Also got almond vegan baileys, but that's out of the socialising budget and is staying in the cupboard until Xmas.2021 GC £1365.71/ £24000 -
