The midwife told me it was SPD when I was around 28 weeks I think, but it wasn't so bad then so I didn't invest in a support belt or anything, just tried to take it a bit easier - it's only these last two weeks that it's got really bad.Yes, I had SPD with both babies - VERY bad with Ryan but not quite as bad with Natasha. It's horrible though, poor you. When you do give birth, try to stay upright (kneeling/standing/crouching) for as long as possible, as lying on your back with your legs apart puts a lot of strain on it and can make it worse (that's what happened with Ryan). I wanted to give birth kneeling, but because Natasha was in distress I had to lie down so they could do all the monitoring and examining (and also for the episiotomy....bleurgh). Stu and the midwife supported my legs/knees though to stop them getting too wide apart.
I've still got a bit of it now, but it's gradually improving and doesn't really stop me doing anything now except standing on one leg, or (for some strange reason) sleeping on my right side.
I am aiming for a water delivery, at home (going to tempt fate by testing the pool tonight!) and as I seem to be spending half my life in the bath to ease the pain I'm hopeful that this helps the actual delivery part, provided I get a midwife who can do water deliveries. Fingers crossed anyway.
Glad to hear yours is improving, I hear it does start to ease almost straight away so I live in hope!0 -
It sounds silly I know Fac, but when I was havving the contractions it really helped me to keep thinking 'every contraction brings me a little bit nearer to holding my baby', and really thinking about what my body was trying to do. I think it helped me make sense of, and cope with the pain. I'm sure you're getting loads of advice from everyone you speak to though...and I know it starts to drive you mad so I'll shush now....lol!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

it does help to hear it Snaggles, most of the experts giving me advice are either men or childless! Hard to take it all seriously really...
The thinking of getting closer to holding him - I'm doing that now as I force down pineapple! It's quite nice actually, I just need a push to eat SO much of it - can't do any harm I suppose, at least I didn't reach for the jelly babies :A

I hate to say it, but I'm sure he'll arrive in his own time.
I was 3 weeks early and refused to be induced. Apparently they tried for a week, gave up and sent Mum home. Only for her to come back 7 hours later. I was born within 30 mins of arriving at the hospital!!
I don't have children so don't really get the feelings, but try to remember that it will be worth everything when you have hold of him. Just make sure he learns to be on time as an adult!!!
Good luck, and I hope your SPD doesn't play up to muchCurrent debt - £16,300
