Also looking to venture into investing to see if we can get some half decent returns. Complete beginner but have ordered my first book - 'understanding the financial times' and then will probably move onto 'Demystifying investing' or similar.
Is quite exciting but as mentioned, I a complete beginner but knowledge is power and will be good to learn something new.

Basically, pick your sectors, buy low cost index trackers and let them get on with it.
Great overpayment :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Managed another £50 OP today :T
Got a bit of spare money this month.....toyed with the idea of leaving it in the bank in case something pops up but then made myself do the OP as have to keep in the mindset of paying whenever possible......im sure the £50 would have slipped away somewhere or we would have convinced ourselves we 'needed' something or another when we truly don't.
Maybe those decisions are the ones that get you over the line.....putting the weaker thoughts to the back of ypur mind and keeping your head down with the goal of MF spurring you on....
On another note, we aren't far off reaching our 10% OP threshold for the year, around £14k. So, a new challenge to face.....savings going up instead of money being 'spent and gone', but I think we will be ok....will be annoying not seeing the interest paid each month come down at the same rate though :eek:Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

Hi All,
Been a little while since our last update - still pushing on with the OP's although we have cut back a tiny bit to try and have more family activities as we feel we want to have more to look forward to each month on a week by week basis.
We are still dreaming big and getting the mortgage cleared in 3 and a bit years but feel having days out here and there is needed on this long slog.
Hope all you guys are still going strong on your own MF journey'sMortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

Morning all! I hope all your MF journey's are still going strong
We are almost a year into ours now and overpaying now seems totally normal. The excitement of the thought of the actual point the mortgage will be paid off has even waned slightly but I think this is natural as we thought about it so much at the start but we are still as determined as ever and can't wait to be MF and all the freedom it will bring!
We were hoping to be close to £100,000 left at the end of the year but different things have popped up so this is more likely to be Closer to £105,000 but we are still really happy how far we have come in this year !
A year in, it is definitely something that is ticking along in the background now as everything is in place, just waiting for the finish line and the champagne to come! (slowly!!)Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

Unexpected £702 car repairs this week ☹
Big dent in this month's op's but I guess these things are more likely to happen running older vehicles rather than buying newer ones....well, only till the mortgage is paid and then we can upgrade ☺Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500
