And I have posted about this elsewhere before - no OP is too small. Even if you round down your salary by couple of quid in your budget and pay the difference towards your mortgage, it'll all work out fantastic.
(In my budget all the income was rounded down and expenses rounded up, so I transferred the difference towards my mortgage everytime I had the chance..and now, I'm mortgage free and the feeling is unbelievable.)
Thank you for your words of wisdom pennystretcher
That is a great idea about rounding up/down. I guess in a way we have done that already as the budget is quite tight and often can't quite make it, but is planned this was as rather work towards a tight budget that you have to work hard at than making it easier but then end up with less money to put towards mortgage.
We still have days thinking if we are doing the right thing sacrificing so much now but the thought if a) financial security and b) to have luxuries never though possible always spurs us on!!

£143 OP today! Sold a couple of things on gumtree. March proving to be a good month for OP's.
Looking forward to seeing what we are down to when our standard £718 comes out in the 11th. I think we are around £2000 ahead of target at this point which is great motivation.
We talked about how we would celebrate the day we are MF and amazing holiday we will book. Is all motivating us to keep going and I think motivation is the biggest key to all this. Is easy to be all motivated at the start but when you're down the line a bit and the mortgage numbers are still big, it could be easy to slacken off but we are still going strong in month 5Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

£50 gumtree sales today, straight on mortgage!
Missed out on Cheltenham racing today for matched betting. Seen some people making an easy £200 on odds monkey - 1st day at Cheltenham is the best for matched betting I have learnt this week. We did an OP of £1400 so far for month of April (end of March pay), hoping to be a bit more but depends on wages, not sure what exactly they will be for both of us this month so have guesstimated for now. Also had to pay off our holiday to Butlins which was £200-ish so that took a chunk out of OP's this month but we all need things to look forward to in this journey otherwise I think it would be easy to suffer OP burn out!!!
We are roughly £1500 ahead of schedule at this point in month 5 of our journey. When our standard £718 comes out on the 11th, we should have paid off around £12,700 so we are getting there slowly but surely!Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

Reading this has really made me want to get my butt into gear with saving! Your plan sounds amazing and you are doing so well!
I know someone mentioned never buying your kiddo books and using the library more. I have got out of the habit of that and I've bought a lot from the Book People recently because they are such good value (and on TCB!) Note to self, use library more often! And batch cook!
Good luck on your journey.#112 Save 12k in 2018: 5000/6000

Hope you get into your new house soon MFD, nothing like getting those keys and sleeping that first night under your new roof!!
Thanks for the tips of the library kids books Little.SquirrleWe have a few good charity shops near us that sell them really cheap and our daughter loves to get her favourite ones off her book shelf so its handy owning them and not having to return them but is definitley a good idea to get some new ones on top of these!

Made an OP of £100 today
Had a couple of sales on gumtree which was great
Always feels good to make an OP as it feels that little bit closer to being MF! I think with a good push, we can get close(ish) to being under £100k by the end of the year
(Including our £10k emergency fund as offset) which will be a huge mental barrier as going under the £100k really seems like have made excellent progress
Current mentality is to put head down and keep pushing forwards, we are still only 5 months into it but it feels so good looking back to where we were compared to where we are nowMortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500

Our end of the month OP made today - £1900! We are now below the £130,000 mark which is great but including/offsetting our savings (which makes us feel better), below the £120,000 mark!
Going to give it a good push to try and get close to the £100,000 barrier by the end of the year!
Little by little, it is going down :T
Also looking to venture into investing to see if we can get some half decent returns. Complete beginner but have ordered my first book - 'understanding the financial times' and then will probably move onto 'Demystifying investing' or similar.
Is quite exciting but as mentioned, I a complete beginner but knowledge is power and will be good to learn something new.Mortgage When Started Over Pay 01/11/2017- £146,500
