FinancialBliss: My mortgage free journey…

I read with interest Stuarts comments and was thinking NO NOOOOOOOOO!.

The key point here is one of timeline; as I noted, it exceeds FB's MFD, so wouldn't be applicable. FB was asking about better returns than the savings rates. Also, you need to believe that markets will correct over time and if you only get a couple % return in savings interest, a modest 5% growth in the markets it would be fine. Unless you think the markets will never again generate a return and the world will end in 2012 anyway
That said, our S&S ISA funds are not required to clear the mortgage, but I do hope to get some significant growth from late 2010 building on cheap unit prices now.... but I have always had that sum in the context of a balanced portfolio of cash and savings not the sole area for growth.
Of greater concern to me would be a change in my final salary scheme pension; this seems to be quite common in the present climate and I would hate to think of moving to an average salary (not the simple last 3yrs type, some employers mean average over your time with them!) or money purchase scheme...0 -

Formula: ? x 2 +1 , ? x 7 + 5 , (? / 3 * 6) –1 , (? ^ 2) + ? + 5 , ? – 6 , ? + 3
Note: I’ve been working on background for this aim for a number of weeks and for reasons beyond my control, it may not be practical to start / achieve this goal. May sound a bit cryptic at the moment, but things will become clear over time…
Ok, I'll come clean - this is no longer going to happen now. ? was 6 resulting in numbers of: 13, 47, 11, 47, 0 and 9.
StuartGMC, JohnyBravo and gallygirl were almost there. Congratulations to you three. See http://www.asciitable.com for completion, while I pop off to draft another post...

Ha,
Didn't turn out as 13/11/09, but it's now 09/01/09 (just) - another slightly interesting date.

Good luck with the MFiT-T2 challenge, I'm sure you'll keep everyone motivated; my best finish date I can hit will be October 2009, but it will hopefully be no later than Feb 2010.0 -
Hi,
Just a quick note to say that since starting the MFiT-T2 challenge with Maz123, I won't be abandoning this diary.
I've just been exceptionally busy these last few days. Does anyone ever read public profiles (hint)? One of the reasons!
I've just spotted this on thisismoney.co.uk, which made me laugh:
http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/mortgages/article.html?in_article_id=465150&in_page_id=8&in_a_source=&ct=5
Was never out of fashion as far as I'm concerned. Hopefully back to my reasonably regular-ish postings soon...

Hi FB,
Read that article yesterday. Good to see that we are being fashionable!
Phoned Barclays this morning to increase the DD. They actually have a separate automated line where you can go to get your payment reduced in view of the rate cuts. When I spoke to the woman she asked me twice if I meant I wanted to increase my DD as most people were reducing theirs. Makes you wonder in light of the economy and the future if many people have learnt anything yet?
