FinancialBliss: My mortgage free journey…
Comments
-
Hi all,
Just a quick note to say I’m now finished work for the year (back on 2nd January), so hopefully, I’ll attempt to get back into a regular-ish diary habit during my break.
Mortgage interest today for 2008 is 2,995.65 – will break through 3k tomorrow, ie Christmas Eve, as I think I previously reported.
Total mortgage balance today is 59,438.87. I’m expecting to make a final small overpayment early next week of… wait for it… something in the region of one pound and 10 pence.
This should bring the mortgage to a nice round year end total of 59,500.00

Hi Kaz,
I've been staring at the screen for a while. OCD? OCD? What the hell is OCD? If you can appreciate that I'm from an IT background, my small brain immediately engaged into IT related TLAs (three letter acronyms) to look for a solution!
In the style of Jeremy Clarkson : "I was on the internet today and found this:"
http://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/OCD
which is an interesting acronyms site. Penny dropped evenutally - it's been a really, really long day - not one for right now, but I'm guessing you're referring to my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
I've never in previous years attempted to end the year on a round mortgage amount, but I guess you could refer to my mortgage interest tracking as being bordering on the obsessive :rotfl:
As for Christmas, we're all done and the little 'uns and Mrs Bliss have already turned in for the evening - I'm going to do the same shortly.
Just before I do, I'd like to wish everyone who follows this diary - as either a lurker, occasional or regular poster a very Merry Christmas.

Have a great Christmas day...

We can't go to bed until the kids have stopped coughing for long enough for Santa to visit. Hence sitting watching gash on telly.

I must be really naive! It just means rubbish to me. I ought to google all the silly little sayings I use.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

It’s funny how you say one thing “I’m now finished work for the year… so hopefully, I’ll attempt to get back into a regular-ish diary habit during my break” and exactly the opposite occurs. More about that later.
The mortgage. Today, it stands at 59,485.54. I’ve estimated that I’ll get charged 15.55 for the remainder of the year in interest – gives 59,501.09, thus I’ve just made an overpayment by 1.09 which should drop the mortgage to a round 59,500.00 by 31st December.
I’ve a Nationwide currently account and previously, when you do a transfer to the mortgage their screen shows “This payment will clear in 2-3 working days”. Just done the transfer and it showed “This payment will clear in 1-2 working days”. Don’t know if that’s a side effect of faster payments perhaps.
I’ll update the graphs and give a final interest charged breakdown for the year on 31st December.
