Remember to swipe your new Tesco credit card for points whether you pay with it or not, rather than your standard clubcard if you buy fuel from their garages.
Thanks. Expect to be using the card for at least 12 or 13 months, probably after the mortgage is cleared too! Expect a big balance towards the end of the 15 month period and (hopefully) without a mortgage, I can then throw the money at the balance to clear.

Remembered what my other item was - Nationwide e-Savings account.
I closed this last week after I transferrred a balance of £175 out. Got a measly 36p interest (last application of interest was 31st March), after 9p tax.
Reason why I cloased the account - the interest rate, which was an appaling 0.45%, yes less than half of one percent.
Not bothering to find a location elsewhere for the cash - as it will go towards our :eek::eek: "are you sure that's not a mis-print":eek::eek: credit card statements from the end of last month.
Truely appalled at how huge they are - holiday accomodation on there, meals out, a few Christmas presents, the laptop etc, but still, this is probably going to be the last "big" credit card payment for the next 12 months, so may as well go out with a bang, or is that an ouch
I don't do credit card interest, so both the Barclaycard and American Express getting cleared. Going to totally clear them down (a few residual transactions after the statment date), so that just leaves the Tesco card as our only active CC at present.

Well, if you hadn’t noticed, it’s 11/11/11 today. Just a hop, skip and a jump away from 12/12/12. I feel much more optimistic in recent weeks that I can meet or exceed the 12/12/12 target I set myself four years, one month and one day ago…
Been getting my financial house in order ready for 2012. Really do feel now that we have come around the corner and heading down the home straight towards the finish line.
But just a little own goal to share this evening. Went to get some cash out earlier today and managed to mangle my current account PIN with the new Tesco credit card PIN. After 3 attempts (senior moments I think they are called), the cash machine retained my card and I had to call Nationwide this evening to cancel my card and order a replacement.:o:o
A ploy to stop me spending perhaps?
Thanks for dropping in!

What an amazing feeling that must be. Huge congratulations and you can really see the finish line now. I guess you have a choice to continue as you have been doing or tighten the belt to reduce spending further. My DH would say leave as is but it's an option to consider.
You have really inspired me and i look forward to joining you in the next few years. Apart from the fact you have more options you beat the banks - fantastic.
I wil watch you over this year as I progress through year 1 of 6.

A bit of an oddity going on this morning at my Nationwide mortgage account.
If you click into the account, you get to see a certain amount of detail, payments interest, opening and closing balances etc.
Well to my surprise this morning, the November payment is no longer there, but neither are the interest charges for November.
I can be sure of this because... well the payment is easy as it puts the month against the payment and November is simply not there. For the interest, it had just clocked over into the £800's this week and it's currently sitting at £787.53 - currently wondering if it's a blip in their overnight processing or something, or if it's just specific to me?
Will check again later...

Just clicked on it again before I logged out of Nationwide: We're sorry - The details for this account are currently unavailable. Please try again later.

Sounds like they are having Sunday morning glitches with their internet banking service... but very annoying, nonetheless.

Why does it give me great pleasure to imagine the desperate phone calls to senior managers at home, escalating the problem internally, the scurrying around to understand what's gone wrong and set expectations with the business while I'm sitting peacefully in my kitchen in my dressing gown, cup of tea in hand?
