What small DFW things will you do this week - w/c 16th October?

Afternoon all, I managed a NSD yesterday, I keep meaning to do them and then just popping to the shops (which is usually only £5 tops but still adds up to buying random temptations).
Sold more eBay stuff and a sale from a facebook group for £31.04 income yesterday :-)
Today was expensive because I have sent off entries for a championship I'm doing in November although I had budgeted for this over the last two months (£115).
Listed some small items on selling groups which will hopefully add up and still eating through the tins and packets we've discovered with the kitchen upheaval.
I got a £305 PDL refund yesterday too, so I withdrew it from my account and paid a couple of bills of and kept £20 to one side for a special occasion (as yet undetermined!).0 -
Evening all

Still got my cold - was up at 3am using my asthma medication. Didn't get back to sleep
Felt rough all morning but definitely brighter this evening
One good thing about being ill - nothing spent as I didn't go out
Apart from paying the window cleaner, but that is a regular bill (£11 every 6 weeks is worth it for a 3 storey house!)
I did manage to:
Pack 6 ebay items ready for posting tomorrow. Reminded self not to list any more 99p items that need a lot of packing!
Used up lots of things from the fridge -
Stewed a big pan of apples
Used a pack of filo pastry, some ripe camembert, left over bacon, onions and a bit of cream out of the freezer to make a sort of cheese and bacon pastry. I haven't tried these as I haven't felt like eating much, but OH raved about them. Might try a piece tomorrow though
Also made a sort of veggie curry pie with the rest of the pastry, a bit like a huge samosa only baked rather than fried (?) I did try that, it is quite nice, though the seasoning is not quite right. I made these ideas up to use up all the various bits and pieces and didn't have much idea how they would turn out - but ok it seems
And that is about it - it has poured with rain for most of the day, and more bad weather is forecast
Roll on next spring! 0 -
Morning all :hello: hope you are feeling better Dawn know what you ,can about next spring, don’t want to wish my life away but it definitely has taken a turn in the last couple of days. We did Tuesdays trip yesterday instead, not ideal as we didn’t travel from home so had limited snacks and no option to make a packed lunch. We got in to two expensive attractions with our passes though and no spend there. Swerved the expensive photos too, we had our own camera
we bought street food from Borough market rather than going to a restaurant which kept the cost down. Travel costs £27 on the train for all 4 of us and parking which if we’d travelled from our local station would ave been over £150:eek:
Today we’re out again, bit of a slower start and I’ll do a packed lunch after cheapie porridge for breakfast using ys milk from freezer I got out last night. We’re meeting friends which will be nice, we’ve not seen them for ages. Using our passes again which will be the 6th time this week :money:
So not much time to do anything else other than something out of the tea for mine and DH tea so we’re not tempted to order out when we get back late tonight and some washing on the airer inside to try and get it dry. Hopefully I can peg out tomorrow for at least a few hours as we’ll be home in case it rains.
Right, must go and make some coffee and packed lunch. Enjoy your Friday peeps.0 -
Morning all,
Hope you are soon feeling better, Dawn.
Today's list:
*Finished meal plans over breakfast.
*Write shopping list.
*Gather in final bowl of pears, as they have gone over now.
*Clean whole house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Big bag of stuff back to library.
*Turn lovely A5 notebook I received last Christmas into a bullet journal for 2018. Decide on what I want in there & design pages accordingly.
*Knit more of my pretty boot socks.
Have a good Friday all,
F x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Morning all

I slept better, and didn't get up till 7.22  which is a lie in for me! Weather is wet and very windy here, hopefully it will improve as the day goes on. Today's list:
Dog walk in a minute
Go through larder to see what ingredients I need to buy to make this year's Christmas mincemeat. I cooked loads of apple yesterday and it makes sense to use some of this rather than buy new apples later!
Trip to the shops later - I allowed £160 this month for shopping etc and have totally blown that already
Combination of having extras to feed, a big meat order due to receiving voucher codes and rising prices, but still....
Post office with a load of ebay parcels
List some more items
Strip off and remake bed, clean bedroom
Food waste confession - I made some muffins earlier in the week, and due to not keeping my eye on the ball as much as usual, the ones that haven't been eaten have gone mouldy
They should have gone in the freezer, but I will have to give them to the birds.
Easy dinner - some of the filo pies I made yesterday plus some fresh cooked veg will do for today
Check banks
Check for surveys
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning all and hope you feel better Dawn.
Not going to be a NSD for me sadly as lots of errands to run and a couple of things to buy.

Morning everyone, I had a fantastic sleep, I managed to get back to pilates for the first time in over 12 months (since which time I have ruptured and had repaired my cruciate ligament and had a car crash which has ruined my previously good back!). I think an hour of relaxing me time was well worth the £5.10 it cost.
Sold an antique car radio this morning on eBay so that's another £19.99 in the pot.
Looking forward to getting my kitchen a bit more fitted today so we will have more space.
Off out to work now have a good day folks :-)0 -
Morning all

I am working from 1-9pm today which makes a nice change and means there will be very little traffic so I will get there in 15 minutes which is a bonus! I have to learn how to dismantled and clean the slicers tonight though and I'm not looking forward to that, it is very thorough, there are even screwdrivers involved!
I'm trying to work out the best meal options for each type of shift, I reckon a slow cooker meal will be perfect for the late ones as I'll have time to prep it before I go. Last night I brought back one of the prepared in store pizzas and discovered that staff don't have to pay for cooking so got it cooked there and it stayed warm until I got home, it was £3.60 for a 14" pizza but still a huge saving on a delivered one.
One of DS's Christmas presents was delivered yesterday courtesy of vouchers from Job Spotter so I have stayed that in the wardrobe.
Breakfast was YS toasted muffins which were foul, I won't be buying those again, even at 19p! Lunch will be half a YS spag Bol each (since it's just a snack and I only have one!) with some YS Wensleydale grated on top. I shall Google some slow cooker recipes for dinner.

Yes, there will be garlic, onions and shallots, certainly. Not sure if it is worth growing onions and shallots in pots though (?) I a sure they would grow ok, but would take up a pot for ages and you wouldn't get many in there. And you get loads in a pack! Garlic is worth it though, I grow it in a big pot outside the back door every year, and it comes out when it is still worth putting something else in the replace it, a courgette this year. There will also be herbs, do you use those? I like them, as I use them in cooking and they look pretty too. I especially like the bay tree that lives outside my front door. It was just a little thing in a wee pot when I bought it but looks pretty impressive now, and is handy if you want a couple of leaves to put in a stew
You also mentioned raspberries before, you can put those in during November if you are still interested
Foxgloves or DNMS might also have some ideas?0
