Anyone know of Commitments Protection?

Hello to all. Begining to feel that we got scammed.
After winning a PPI, we didnt expect. We got cold called, then visited by COMMITMENTS PROTECTION Ltd.
After a lengthy chat, their rep convinced us to part with over £900 upfront to check our NRAM mortgage, he said we had an excellent claim for being mis sold. And used a £23k carrot to get our payment.
Now it seems, after a month of nagging them, our claim is not so good, and the £900 we paid was for a 'mortgage review' and nothing more.
But if we want them to continue to try for the mis sold possible claim they want £700 more! But no guarantees, thats to pay for an 'expert witness' to review it this time!
Has anyone fallen prey, or know anything of this company? Nothng much online!

It looks like you tried to be greedy and it failed. Sorry.
What does the paperwork you signed say?
(Looking at their website they do indeed offer a mortgage assessment as you describe.)0 -
Dont really know, my husband and I were seperated to sign the forms, hubby is blind, no forms were left, I assumed they left copies with hubby, they didnt. we have no copies and had to fight for 3 weeks to get a receipt for money paid. I assume the forms say what they want them to say, not what they told us they say.
It felt like a slick scam at the time! We felt we were taken as mugs as soon as they left.0 -

There are so few successful missold mortgages that this was the expected outcome. The £900 is where the company make their money. But if we want them to continue to try for the mis sold possible claim they want £700 more!
And this is the known second stage. If you read old threads here on missold mortgages, you will see that second or even third attempts at money are made. But no guarantees, thats to pay for an 'expert witness' to review it this time!
There is no expert witness. I run a financial services firm and use an independent third party to sample file check cases done by the advisers that work for me. A mortgage case takes about 1 hours to review. No specialists needed. That gives us a report on the suitability of the advice and the quality of the file. That is a professional company regulated by the FCA and they cost less than an unregulated CMC with no qualifications and not regulated in the area they are passing judgement on. You are being scammed.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1 -
Ok I will consider myself told off!
When we were asked for payment upfront, I immediately said no!
And yes, after the 'nice' men left, I knew we were scammed! But still held out hope (as you do) that I was not the chump I actually was.
Ok. I need to find a way to warn others!
this company cant get away with this!0 -
You would have had a 14 day cooling off period. If you find yourself in this position again, please seek advice straightaway.0

Sorry to hijack your thread but my husband and I are in the same situation with the same company. We paid the initial £820 and were told we wouldn't need to pay anything else however 6 months later they phoned saying they were ready to take it to the next level of solicitors and would need to pay £599 more and we said no. I asked for my money back which I was told I'd get if they didn't win the claim. I'm being told now that I need to pay £714 which is £599 +vat to continue and if we don't win we don't get anything back. I've said I won't pay more money but they're constantly pestering me and my husband for this money. Is there anything I can do? I have the one piece of paperwork my husband signed when we paid the £820.0

Believe me, I won't pay anything else. Is there anyway to claim my money back at all?. Especially since the paperwork doesn't really say much.0

Read the contract you had with them to see what this fee is supposed to coverNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

You won't be getting any of it back as they did indeed perform a "mortgage assessment", regardless of it not resulting in any windfall for you.0
