Vauxhall Signum V6 3.0 tdi. Bloody brilliant but underated. Quite exec looking but with twin exhaust. Sat nav as standard. Even has a fridge! 6 gears, cruise, climate and good mpg considering engine size etc. We ALWAYS get looks because nobody knows what the bloody hell it is!

Thanks for all the advice guys, going to take this all on-board and have a look at the mazda 6, mondeo and the signum.

My boss drives a 3 litre signum estate so will ask him about it, though i thought they where a lot more expensive than they are on autotrader :money:

I think you always get looks because people are saying "Why?"
Great engine but better of with a Vectra really

That's not true. There are a lot more reasons why the signum is more practical than the vectra. It has a lower boot (like an estate) and it is huge. That means the back seats can go down and fit a big dining table and 6 chairs in as we did when we moved easily. Also prams, dogs etc much easier to get in. That with added looks (nobody particularly looks at the veccie now unless it is modded - too common) means you have mega practicality with a bit of kudos.

I test drove a Mazda 6 a couple of years ago, it was fun but very unrefined and tinny, jumping into a Honda Accord after was a revelation experience! (to be fair to the Mazda I think they improved it since and stuffed more soundproofing in it, smoothed the ride out too.)

Also the V70 is more a case of a Mondeo underneath not the other way around! haha!

An S60 'S' has a vastly better turning circle as it only has 205 tyres (squeals like a pig though very funny!) its the 235's that cause the problem on the SE's

Normally they're on 225, but we're not splitting hairs...

But yes, it makes me laugh how shiney the wheel arch liners go on them! lol
  • Also, I don't understand the rear seat arrangement in the Signum...
    • Volvo S60 D5 SE with winter pack
    • Accord Exec 2.2td with SatNav
    • A6 2.5TDi
Tho I'd always choose petrol 1st. So from my list above it'd be
    • A6 3.2 Quattro
    • Accord 2.4 Exec
    • S60 T5 SE
I do like the 7 series tho...

Watched an 03 plate 745i done 50,000 miles today at auction. Looked handy around 11 grand!!

What's the problem with versatility? 3 seats without travel assist, 2 seats with it in....don't get the issue??
