Ok, keep a log of all uninsured losses, taxi receipts, anything that puts you out of pocket due to no car, get a receipt, you cab claim this back from the other side if they are found to be at fault.
I do Contracts, all day every day.

But, my insurers have paid me for my car minus the excess. They just won't reinstate the policy because they are saying they can't reinstate a telematics policy... i.e. i am losing out of the remaining period because my car has been written off.

Tell them to quote you the relevant bit of the policy that they are using to say you can't transfer it to another car.
Littlebox is the name of admirals telematics system.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Did you cancel your policy or has your insurer cancelled it?

If you cancelled it then you are unlikely to be able to reinstate it.

If they cancelled it why did they?

If your policy has not been cancelled at all then no need for it to be "reinstated"!

They cancelled it because there is no vehicle to currently insure. My car has been written off and I've been paid the cost of the car minus the excess.

    OK

It looks like you left it too late to replace the car - not connected to telematics issue??

How long did they give you to find a replacement?

I had this before, without the telematics thing though.

Accident was my fault, and although I'd just renewed policy a week or two prior to the incident they only gave me 30 days for find a new car to transfer insurance to or I'd lose it and be required to buy a completely new policy.

I told them 30 days would be too difficult to find a car. So I ended up in the last few days rushing a buying a car that eventually caused me so many problems (money pit).

I can't remember who it was with, but it was back in 2011. The reason they stated was that I was at fault and made successful claim, so they wouldn't refund me for a 11 months worth of insurance (as they'd lose out) or extend the policy suspension period.
