Hmmmmm..... You're listing your debts, but willing to spend £2000 on flights alone. :).

Personally, it sounds a little stressful trying to fit all of those places in, unless you are backpackers.

No need to visit both Samui and Phuket, unless it's on your way.

We don't know your budget age, tastes, so how can one be expected to know what you would like?

Do you like parties, relaxing on beaches, sporting activities....?
  • I wouldn't be paying ;) and what we really want is to spend tme on the beaches, not too fussed about partying, just want to relax in paradise. We'd prob have spenders of about £1500 but we could stretch to more but pref not. Thanks for all your tips so far though, its complicated but having fun browsing through it all :p

Indirect flights currently cost £750 for the for leaving on the 23rd and arriving on the 13th.

Direct, there is EVA for £882.

You're arriving in Super Peak season, so you'll need to keep an eye on your budget.
  • Thanks Donnie, where have you got the £750 quote from?

Don't go to Samui or Phuket, there are much nicer islands to go to. Certainly trying to do both in 3 weeks will be a rush.

I don't think you will have any trouble trying to find accomadation. We arrived on Koh Phangan on Christmas Eve with no where booked an the various touts for different resorts were fighting for our business on the ferry.

Try Koh Chang, good beaches, nice hotels and a backdrop of rainforest clad mountains.

Don't be so opinionated as to where the OP should not go.
Many people travel to Phuket and Samui and enjoy it.
Koh Chang is becoming similarly exploited, so your recommendation only serves to compound the problem.
They didn't have any hotels when I visited. Now you are extolling the virtues of the 'nice hotels' there.

I certainly wouldn't recommend rolling up to any of the islands on Christmas Eve expecting to have the pick of choice accommodation.

Your standards may well differ from the OP. Lucky Dip accommodation with little choice in location may not fit their needs.

    Sheeesh.

I tend to prefer a bungalow on the beach, rather than a hotel room when on the islands.
Eveyone has differing requirements, so I tend to leave it to the OPs to define their requirements, rather than pointing them to what I like.

I think most of the fun is in researching the trip for themselves, with us here to stop them from making any major mistakes.
  • All tips are really helpful, will look into Koh Chang and defo like the sound of a bungalow on the beach. Also thanks for the tip about Eva airways, the ones we were originally looking for had gone up massively and these are much better. Do flights continually go up in price!!! Must get this booked asap!!

    Thanks everyone x

  • We've just booked flights for 2 weeks in Feb, planning on doing Bangkok, Chaing Mai and Phuket (with some day trips to other islands from Phuket).

If anyone has been how long would you stay in Bangkok, Chaing Mai.

Also is there a bus from Chaing Mai to Chaing Rai or would you need to fly? Is there muc`h to see/do in Chaing Rai/Mai.

Sorry for hijacking yout thread but would be a bit silly to start a new one when i'm after loadsa Thailand info too
  • Oh by the way we got flights from Manchester to Bangkok, via Abu Dhabi for £500 each.
