We're pretty lousy at growing grapes for wine, and lots of other fruit/veg/plants that need warmer environments. But sure, we'll be able to switch to local equivalents if we're happy with the reduced choice and competition. For e everything else we'll still need to import it from someone.

"There's nothing the EU produce that we can't make ourselves."

Does that include nuclear power stations for instance?

The EU doesn't build nuclear power stations. Companies do. ;)

Separate the real world from the politics.

    Indeed.

I'm sure the Baldricks of Brexit will suggest Turnips as a suitable alternative to everything though....;)

    .

Yes I eagerly await the day when the UK is covered in citrus fruit and olive tree orchards....

Oh wait - our climate is about 10 degrees too cold on average.:(

Besides in this day and age countries have long ago abandoned trying to make everything themselves as it's incredibly inefficient and instead focus on specialisation, economies of scale, and trade.

So your cheese analogy is just daft...

Unless you use someone like French owned EDF you run the risk of radiation leaks. I'm sure as a Brexiter you'd want to live near a completely British made power station, but what about the rest of us?

Personally I'd prefer that we focus on renewable energy sources. Together with investing in the new battery storage technology. Our local authority is investing in a 50MWh facility. The largest that they able to build.

    We don't do so badly

And turnips make a fine wine, as do parsnips.

Did wine only exist in the UK once we joined in the EU then?

    News to me.
