17m Leave voters with varying degrees of annoyance at the betrayal of democracy will make this country borderline ungovernable.
Ironically (I guess), the way to generate the least outrage is to admit Brexit was a bad idea and that we're not going ahead, instead we'll focus on reforming the EU from within.0 -

Rubbish. The post completely overlooks the fact that newspapers are not the only source of news.
You have to admit that newspapers and associated websites are by far the largest source of news though?ilovehouses wrote: »I think the BBC were 'too impartial' and allowed too many leave lies to pass over their heads for fear of appearing to take sides.
That's my thought as well; they gave far more air time to Farage than they should have, considering he was a nobody, in an attempt to seem fair.0 -

They still drag him out on Question Time, even though he is even less relevant now.0 -

.
They've already made it ungovernable by trying to push through a Brextremist agenda that ignore the needs of the majority of the electorate who did not vote for Brexit.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Yep.
BBC/Sky etc were horribly biased in favour of the leave cause by turning all coverage into 'Farage TV' instead of being neutral and facts/evidence led.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Saw a decent piece in the FT yesterday, mentioning how the UK had probably surrendered some negotiating power by allowing the EU to prepare a draft withdrawal agreement first, as that will likely now become the starting point for any future negotiations.
Amazing the amount of furore over the Irish border question yesterday, the EU isn't saying what is in the document is the final answer to that issue, but are still waiting to hear sensible proposals from Britain that will avoid the need to follow that path.
It is still hard to see how the UK can address the border issue given the numerous self imposed redlines they have boxed themselves in with, it was a problem in December and nothing much has changed since then.
The draft paper is for internal use in Brussels. Often gets forgotten that the EU isn't run by Barnier, Tusk , Selmayr and Juncker alone.......It will now be discussed by the Council (Article 50) and with the Brexit Steering Group of the European Parliament before being transmitted to the United Kingdom for negotiation.

I don't have any respect for people that attempt to argue that those unable or unwilling to participate have a justifiable stance beyond that which has been voted upon. Simply put it is NOT your place to decide.
You have a very black/white thought process. Just because 17 million people made a decision two years ago, doesn't mean that 48 million people will be happy with being stitched up forever. That is why we have elections every four years and don't just vote once for our politicians.
If you don't actually start thinking about the 48 million of people who didn't vote to leave, then you're just going to create a much larger group of people who will undo brexit. People on both sides are capable of creating an ungovernable mess. I'm pretty sure you can't stop a riot with "you snooze you lose".If we had an issue with the December agreement, we probably shouldn't have agreed to it....
We know they agreed to it, because there was a lot riding on them agreeing to it. However they seem to be saying that even though they agreed to it and they knew what the EU and Ireland thought was being agreed, they secretly had a different interpretation of what was being agreed. Like crossing your fingers when you make a promise.0 -

Exactly, they've pretty much just written down what May agreed to 3 months ago.HAMISH_MCTAVISH wrote: »They've already made it ungovernable by trying to push through a Brextremist agenda that ignore the needs of the majority of the electorate who did not vote for Brexit.
It also ignores the needs of the majority of those that voted for Brexit.0 -

Yada yada!
You’ve seen nothing yet, the current travails will be as nothing if Brexit doesn’t happen or BRINO prevails.
Take yourself on an intellectual journey and ask yourself why the Palace of Westminster with a massive Remain majority is currently (for now at least) waiving Brexit through without a whimper.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
