FYI he has said he does not want to be leader, only a few weeks ago too.

Never mind though, you can carry on shaking in your boots if you are so inclined.
I would much rather that Rees Mogg were Tory leader as for all his many faults he unapologetically represents what the Tory Party actually are. A political party created to represent the interests of the landed gentry, and commoners who know their place and want to be ruled by their betters.
In an election with him on one side and Jeremy Corbyn on the other no one can claim they didn’t know what they were voting for or that all politicians are the same.
The Tories will lose by a landslide and be out of power for probably at least 2 generations as well. Which would be nice.0 -

I'm still waiting for the evidence I asked you for; you posted your opinion but you cannot provide any evidence to support it?
That is called conjecture or speculation.
In other words, it is not true.
I think your side is lacking in credible sources to defend the indefensible.0 -

Exactly. Conjecture or speculation.
Wether it!!!8217;s true or not we may or may not find out.
However the list reflects comments made on these threads by posters in favour of Brexit.
By the way, do you have anything to add to the list. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

I do think Brexit is a divisive issue. However negotiation always seeks middle ground and compromise. So whatever we end up with won't be staying in the EU, nor ought it be a no deal floundering off, as that will not help anyone.
FWIW I always thought we'd end up more at the EFTA level as the compromise, I'm now increasingly of the view that it will be more like Canada, but with services included.
We have to try to see each other's views or the country faces years of schism which isn't good for building our mutual future, wherever we end up.
Perhaps a starting point is asking where our personal red lines are. So mine would be:
1. We should not endanger the Good Friday agreement.
2. I want to be able to continue to travel to Europe for long periods of time, even if I don't have a right to live there.
3. Participation in joint anti terror work should not be compromised.
4. We can not have a scenario whereby we end up with food shortages as a result of failure to agree an adequate exit.
5. The pound should not be put in a scenario where it experiences further major falls against the world's currencies.
6. Fair and equitable treatment of both Britsh people living in Europe at time of leaving and fair and equitable treatment of EU citizens living in the UK.
Additionally, there are some points that I would like to see negotiated in to any agreement:
1. Continued joint European mobile calls and data roaming
2. Continued access to EHIC
3. Continued access to ERASMUS
4. Continued access to EURATOM
5. Continued access to pet passports
There are probably other things that I haven't thought of, but that's a start.
Your post actually suggests a few things to the list of things that will be effected negatively.
higher roaming charges
Loss of EHIC medical support
British Cancer sufferers
Pet travel
British Students.
EU27 Students.
British Citizens living in the EU27
EU Citizens living in Britain
Thank you. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
I had an interesting conversation with a staunch leave voter the other day when they asked me advice on mobile phone tariffs after returning from a trip to Portugal.
The conversation started with "I want to change my mobile tariff. The most important thing is that no matter where I am in the world, I don't want to get ripped off".
I pointed out that anywhere in the EU is at least as cheap as when you're at home & that will last until brexit. At which point they flipped and said it wasn't a problem, they only said "no matter where they were in the world" meant when they were in Britain, because that is where they are now.
You could almost hear the cognitive dissonance.
This is pretty indicative of every leave voter I have ever met. They like the £350 million a week for the NHS and the end to those stupid lazy scrounging benefits claimants from the EU coming here with their degrees and taking our jobs and pushing up our property prices, anything bad that comes with it is not a problem, not a problem, not a problem.......
I've not met them all, so there might be a few decent leavers who are now sandwiched between the 48% remoaners and 50% of the loonly leavers. That certainly isn't going to be a nice place to be, maybe should have thought a bit earlier about who they were getting in bed with.0 -

I would suggest that these are items that could be negatively impacted rather than will be negatively impacted. Which is why May and team need to negotiate as good a deal as possible and not just walk out. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? OT so apologies. Watching PMQs for news of Brexit.
Corbyn said we are half way through the six speeches that are supposed to mark our path to Brexit, but so far we've had empty waffle and rhetoric.
May (who obviously had this line up her sleeve for a bit) responded that , his job was to ask a question, not make a statement. She said she had laid out detail... but finished with this barb..
Can I congratulate the RH gentleman, as normally he stands up every week and asks me to sign a blank cheque. And I know he likes Czechs.. couldn't hear the rest under the boos and cheers (Corbyn yawned). Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? So again; trade will happen with an untrustworthy UK. But those doing the trading will be more wary than otherwise and that could have consequences. Same if we continue to come across as incompetent.
Germany has come in for huge global criticism over it's emissions scams. France routinely breaks EU rules such as deporting entire Roma communities enmass.
Australia routinely comes in for harsh criticism from the UN.
All but 2 EU nations meet their obligations to pay 2% of GDP in defence.
France & Italy flout EU procurement rules.
Visegrad 4 wont take refugees and are extremely hostile to Islam.
Switzerland plans on no welfare for immigrants for many years.
Denmark has made asylum so hostile, asylum applications have plummeted.
The list of misdemeanours is endless.
ALL THESE THINGS YOU REMAINERS would claim would make UK a laughing stock / untrustworthy.
As ever Remainers think if the UK bends a rule somehow the world will somehow be wary of us, yet again total nonsense.Restless, somebody pour me a vino.0 -
May asked to confirm rights of EU citizens living in the UK. Said that those living here lawfully have made a huge contribution and will be able to stay. Said that there will be a system, it will be digital, and will cost the same as a British passport also said they will have up to two years to register and it will be made as easy as possible. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? For a poorly educated Right winger, angry that he or she hasn!!!8217;t got what they feel was their right, all these rules are to blame for them missing out. For a better educated person, the treaties and agreements are what supports their way of life.
What a profoundly snobbish and ignorant take on reality you have.
Pity those poor citizens of independent nations all living in ignorance, without satisfactory regulations eh, highly disadvantaged by their not being members of the EU. One wonders how Canadians dare show their faces, fancy merely belonging to trading alliances rather than federal blocs.Restless, somebody pour me a vino.0
