Give me an example. How and when could we have vetoed MIFID II?

When it came up. Are you deliberately trying to be obtuse? I don't have any examples of us using our veto because we agree with almost all of the decisions of the eu parliament.

As far as I'm aware, there are no strings on our veto and no consequences for voting against anything. Do you have evidence to the contrary?

Sometimes you wonder if people's choices and views are out of self interest rather than the good of the whole.

It's safe to assume most choices are based in self interest.

It's not good is it. Humiliation day after day is poured on us. The 27 are making sure this won't happen again by making an example of us. Thank you brexiteers.
Don't any of you see this? We are being taken to the cleaners. Brexiteers seem to be of the view that we just have to keep quiet, put up with the humiliation and then crow about what will now clearly be a phyrric victory when finally......after transition.......in about 3 years time its done!.........and we still have no idea what that will look like but every dog on the street knows now that whatever it is it won't be the resurgent Britain many of you fantasised about.

Brexiteers Bingo. Look out for the following phrases:

    Experts can’t be trusted
    It’s all about the sovereignty
    It’s a biased report
    Remainer May
    Lies
    Being punished
I’d rather be poor and free
    Control our own borders

Sorry but no prizes for this.

The terrible negotiating tactics are of our own making.
Theresa May could have published her own transition paper well before this one from the EU. That would then have put pressure on each individual member of the EU27.
    But no.
Britain now has the difficult position of pushing back against one man Barnier who has his instructions and can not change very much without going back to a full meeting of the EU27.

Actually while I am not in to a conspiracy this all looks like “someone” setting Britain up to be ready to except a New referendum. The only problem with that game is, is there a way back into the EU and has too much damage to Britain has already been done.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

In May many people will have the opportunity to vote in local elections. With a historical turnout of 30% to 35% a big turnout of remainers voting ONLY for anti Brexit candidates/party will send a strong message to Whitehall to STOP Brexit. Remember what happened in the last General Election the media added the votes of Tory and Labour together and said it was a huge endorsement of Brexit.
    Don’t let that happen again.
If there is no Anti Brexit candidate stand yourself, it is very simple if you live in the Borough, even if it is as a “paperless” candidate. ie just your name on the ballot paper and no campaigning.
Brexiters will not need to do so as there are presently two main party’s that are pro Brexit. The only difference between the two and within is what sort of Brexit. Catastrophic, very very bad, very bad or just plain bad for Britain.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

On the radio this morning Duncan-Smith was just spouting forth exactly the same cliched lines. The problem is people's pride doesn't allow them to admit they are wrong.....so they google for some obscure reference that supports their line. We all know the way this is going however. When you even have arch brexiteers like Fox saying 'get ready to be disappointed'....it's clear!
  • So you are still determined to stop Brexit gfplux? You must really hate this country, probably why you don't even live here?
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
