Warning of post Brexit price rises if trade deals not replicated.

Brexit impact will be limited, according to former treasury chief who contributed to Project Fear (but in his words it is a big if):

Northern France's Parallel Brexit Talks:
https://www.politico.eu/article/northern-frances-parallel-brexit-talks/
An interesting story about how the area around Calais is trying to prepare for Brexit and MPs from both sides of the channel are meeting to discuss the issue and make sure that they are not left off of the Brexit agenda.
It will be interesting to see if we see more of this model at a regional or national level going forward. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Britain leaving the EU after 45 years is probably one of the largest events that some people will experience in their lifetimes.
It will have far reaching effects On people, regions and Company’s.
However one thing is certain no one should ignore it.
During the second phase of negotiations of the complicated withdrawal we might be surprised by some of the areas of people’s life that will be affected.
This Pandora’s box is quite exiting in a frightening way. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

He doesn't say it will be limited, he said it should be limited.
The difference between:
You will give up smoking
You should give up smokingIt almost sounds like you think an indoor toilet is a luxury item.
It is. Outdoor toilets were still relatively common when we joined the EC. Outside the UK there are a lot of people who don't have an indoor toilet, or in fact any kind of toilet at all.Sure we will always have poor people and unemployed people and low paid people but this does mean they are suffering without food or shelter or heating.
There are people who have less of those things than they need & that number is only going to increase as the financial impact of brexit puts even more pressure on the governments resources. There is only so much victim blaming you can do. We only put an end to making the unemployed queue up every week for money because middle class people were finding themselves having to claim benefits and they couldn't possibly be expected to queue up with everyone seeing.
No deal will turn into rejoining the EU within ten years. If we have free market healthcare you would find that 'middle men' provide the guarantees of quality.
It will be a race to the bottom with price as the only important metric..In the same way Tesco has a massive incentive to make sure the food they sell (which they don't make themselves) is safe to eat.
Do you pay attention to all of the safety recalls the supermarkets put out? They aren't making sure they are safe to eat, they are making sure they do enough to not get sued. As long as the food doesn't kill you instantly then you have little proof it was them.
For doctors it's even more subjective. What you would find is that surgeons would turn people away and tell them there was nothing that could be done, purely to protect their statistics. Like the schools who turned away pupils who weren't going to do really well in their exams. Nobody dies under the knife anymore, but you just put their chance of survival from 10% to 0%.Japan spends a lot less on healthcare as a % of GDP then the US. Yet Japan and US life expectancy is very similar. Why the differences in spending yet the outcome is the same?
Japanese people generally live healthier lives. While in the US and the UK we like to give ourselves a nice treat of type 2 diabetes.Enterprise_1701C wrote: »To me the old passports felt like something real, they had hard covers and they were respected, when I got my first eu one I was very disappointed in it.
I think you're confusing cost cutting with joining the EU. The new blue passports look nothing like the frivolous waste of money of yesteryear.
You'll be disappointed to find out that nobody respected you for having a hard cover passport.0 -
Absolutely. We are so entwined with the EU that I truly believe that it will take the same 45 years to be free and clear,as it did to get here.
It is a mess.Just glad that I did not vote to cause it.0
