Brexit, the economy and house prices part 5

I am not hanging my hat on anything.
I am conflicted about moving on to phase 2. Britain have effectively declared phase 1 a fudge and think they can ignore it. The EU might/are add conditions to moving on because of that.
What a way to negotiate!!! Well done David Davis. You do Britains reputation around the world no good at all.
If and when phase 2 comes in to the spotlight the complexity, difficulty and potential damage to the UK will become clearer which might derail Brexit completely.
My adopted country is one of the EU27 and I am not sure that the possibility of Britain not leaving will be to the benefit of the EU. At the same time I am of the opinion that leaving the EU will damage Britain for years to come.
It will be an interesting week.
Why will it be an interesting week, what's going to happen?
The agreement last week was a fudge all round IMO, only someone hopelessly annoyed at Brexit would suggest it was only on the British side. UK's reputation being trashed is just hyperbole on your part and again a window on your personal annoyance at the whole Brexit thingy.
I think the cause of the DD remarks was the rather triumphalist declaration in Dublin that the EU had extracted from the UK a cast iron guarantee of no hard border on the island of Ireland. As a resident UK citizen, it was IMO right that DD responded in the way he did, and no doubt from your point of view it was then right for the EU to then question as to whether the UK is acting in good faith.
Its all part of the rough and tumble of negotiation I reckon.
Phase 2 has the potential to collapse just as phase 1 could have, the mood music over here at least says it won't.
A long way to go though.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

You're doing this all wrong. When the EU and its supporters make an intemperate comment, it is proof of their steely determination. When the UK does, it is proof of our hopeless incompetence.0 -

You'd think a criminal investigation involving the EU president would be mentioned by the BBC. Curiously they don't think it newsworthy. If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

I googled and no one except the Times, Express or the Sun seem to deem it newsworthy, why single out the BBC?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Just so you know.
The EU will vote wether sufficient progress has been made on the three key issues in Phase 1.
If they vote NO there will be interesting comments from Britain.
If they vote YES there may be qualifications that Britain might or might not like together with a time frame that Britain may or may not like.
So for me it will be an interesting few days. Don't you agree? There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

History has shown us time and again the dangers of demonising foreigners and minorities
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, 2015
After what it called “decades of sustained and unrestrained anti-foreigner abuse, misinformation and distortion”, last year the United Nations accused some British newspapers of “hate speech”. UK experts are now warning that hate crime is being “fuelled and legitimised” by the media. Relentlessly hostile and often inaccurate headlines have been described by charities as “dangerous”. But, indirectly, nearly all of us are funding them.
Remember, even clicking on websites like the Express, the Mail, The Sun is providing funding for xenophobia (although I appreciate The Express is also the Brexit voter's number one choice for stories about extra-terrestrials.)

There was always going to be at least some dissent - in both parties.
Sensible people knew this.0
