Sit down and do a exel spread sheet of your termly in goings and out goings. Work out what you have as disposable income and try and stick to it. Also keep a record on another spreadsheet of every single little payment that you make. Helps you keep on track of your spending... I swear by it

If you have a lot of stuff, you can sell them on ebay. If you have writing skills, you can apply for freelance writing online. There are a lot of money making opportunities available online, you just need to choose which one is the best for you.0

Ignoring the fact that this thread is 5 years old and OP has long since graduated
- be a guinea pig - universities, especially those with med / psych depts - always need participants for studies. They don't always avoid taking drugs - I've seen some for fMRI scans (I can't do those though because I have metal implants) and I've been offered £1300 to take licenced, marketed anti-depressants for 9 weeks
- find out if your uni takes on student ambassadors. It's not just open days - many do a lot of outreach / widening participation work with local state schools, and you can work on them on an ad hoc basis.0 -
I agree with FastCash. Freelance writing can be a decent odd job for many students.0
