Have you thought about doing online surveys.

I did the OpinionPanel one and still have yet to get to £25 and I graduated over a year ago ha.

There are many survey sites. Some you can cash out when your earnings get to £10.
  • Being a sort of live in carer for an older person saves on rent.
  • Sit down and do a exel spread sheet of your termly in goings and out goings. Work out what you have as disposable income and try and stick to it. Also keep a record on another spreadsheet of every single little payment that you make. Helps you keep on track of your spending... I swear by it :)
  • If you have a lot of stuff, you can sell them on ebay. If you have writing skills, you can apply for freelance writing online. There are a lot of money making opportunities available online, you just need to choose which one is the best for you.

    - be a guinea pig - universities, especially those with med / psych depts - always need participants for studies. They don't always avoid taking drugs - I've seen some for fMRI scans (I can't do those though because I have metal implants) and I've been offered £1300 to take licenced, marketed anti-depressants for 9 weeks
    - find out if your uni takes on student ambassadors. It's not just open days - many do a lot of outreach / widening participation work with local state schools, and you can work on them on an ad hoc basis.

I agree with FastCash. Freelance writing can be a decent odd job for many students.
