Should regs be posted on main board?

Having an on-going thread on the main board which gets bumped when new regular comps are postedUpdate:
Guys, I've been nattering with Glad about this, and we both feel it makes sense to back-burner it until after the Advents. That doesn't mean, "Forget all about it."
It's going to be a big deal to try to gather as many opinions as possible and choose the best way forward. If we then decide to change things, it probably makes sense not to contend with new stuff, while coping with the advents.
So can we agree to leave this till comping gets back to 'normal' in the new year, when we can tackle it properly with Glad's help and input?

thanks Blu, hopefully with the other BG's help/input as well

Just wondering what is happening now (if anything) as the advents are now over and it is well into the new year.0 -

I did have a thread suggesting using the letter system. Still like the idea of D for dailies. the vote agreed but not the more vocal posters. Democracy by shouting often wins.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -

Yes. I saw that, but thought that this was a separate issue ( although there is some overlap).0 -
Any other suggestions?I did have a thread suggesting using the letter system. Still like the idea of D for dailies. the vote agreed but not the more vocal posters. Democracy by shouting often wins.
When the vote is such a small proportion of forum users the result is fairly irrelevant whichever way it goes - lots of users don't go to the chat corner at all.0 -
Posting on the main board with an end date of E: 31/12Just wish to say having a bumped main thread only really works if you view the site in 'discussed' or you subscribe.
Having it this way isn't very inclusive and many users will miss the competition.
Would make sense maybe to have it posted as a comp on the main forum and that link added to a main reg thread. (similar to how the Advents are done)UEFA: Corrupting Football Since 1954 #CTID0 -

Do you mean someone who points out that the total number of votes cast is minute in comparison to the number of forum users?
Or someone who presents another viewpoint as the voting is representative of so few users? (Points out at this point that I don't sort the board in a way that the start letter makes any difference to me)0 -
Posting them with an end date E: 31/13?Suggestions:
1) I think we should start over, open another discussion, probably leading to a poll, once people have had a chance to chat first, because this might affect how folk vote. I suggest holding the discussion in CCC, but at some point link it to a post on the main board so that most will have a chance to see it, whether they then vote/comment or not. I would prefer it if this was all done by a BG. Or at least by someone who can be neutral who knows what questions to ask in the poll.
2) I believe that as many comps as possible should be posted on the main board. When a comp is posted only on the regs, people miss out on seeing it. We could siphon off all sorts of comps, and some would prefer it if we did just that. Usually, people want the comps that they're not interested in entering posted elsewhere. I.e. those who don't do Facebook would rather Facebook comps were in a separate thread, same with Rafflecopter, magazine dailies, etc. In my opinion, it is best to make the system as simple as possible, simple for those posting comps and for those looking to enter comps. The simplest way would be to do away with the regs board and house all comps on the main board. And before anyone says it, yes, I accept that the C2Ws are probably a justifiable exception.
3) With on-going comps, I might be missing something obvious (not for the first time) but is there any practical reason not to run these with an end date of 00/00? If we used this, it would fit in with our existing system. The comps would be easy to post, and easy to find, whichever comping system is used. They could also be bumped once a year, or more often if wanted. This would be a simple task for whoever thought of it first.
4) With weekly and monthly comps, TBH, I'm not sure which is the best system. It is probably easiest for those posting if they post once and the thread is bumped for new comps. But this doesn't work well for end-daters. So it might be worth posting each new comp separately? Would it work if we asked posters to include "(Weekly)" or "(Monthly)" in the title? This way end-daters could find them by using search? I liked the Advent system of using "A" instead of "E" in the title and quite like the idea of using "W" for weekly, and "M" for monthly, but not if it would cause problems for the BGs.
5) All opinions are welcome and valid.
