Offer £250 to switch to Clydesdale, Yorkshire or B

Re a transfer out limit of £500 without a token I assume that's for the conventional style accounts not B.
Because we transferred £1000 out of Mrs Zanderman's brand new B account yesterday with no trouble at all. Using the B App.
In one transaction?
Without a token, the limit on my YB a/c is £500/transaction and £1000/day. Consequently there's no need to wait until the following day for the 2nd £500 withdrawal.
I had thought the anti-fraud might kick in (as has happened with some other banks when immediately withdrawing deposited funds) but was happy to find it all went through without having to call them.
My experience on the day switching completed:
Sent £10 of £20 switched balance to Nationwide a/c - OK.
£500 Nationwide to YB - OK.
£500 YB to Nationwide - OK.
£500 Nationwide to YB - OK.
£500 YB to Nationwide - Rejected as would exceed the £1000/day limit.
£490 YB to Nationwide - OK.
Same for my wife's Clydesdale Bank a/c but didn't do the rejected transaction.
So £1000 paid in on the day the switch completed but does this qualify for the incentive??? "£1,000 in the first 31 days after your switch" not "within 31 days of the switch". I'll be paying in again before the end of the month just to be sure!0 -
So today is switch day for me. I notice a few bits of information re : payees etc drifted across to the B account a few days ago (mainly irrelevant as I've sacrificed a fairly dormant account), but my old account is still showing as open and (theoretically at least) usable.
What time of day does your old account tend to register as closed and/or disappear? Do you receive an email to advise when the switch is complete?0 -

Me too! Belt and braces. I hope I don't have to have words regarding the shuffle with the "Fraud Squad" again!
But I'll trust just the one payment within the 2nd 31 days!
Two hours now and no sign of the unblocked payment landing .......:whistle:0 -
Yes, one transaction. That's the point I was making.
It would seem the 'B' account and App is more flexible in its approach to transfers than the conventional YB and CB accounts.
Apparently the limit using the app is £25,000 without a token! From

I would think timing of closure is down to the former bank. I know M&S were super quick and removed access to ours, which I assume means they are closed, on the same day as the switch.0 -
Oh no have they said what they will do about the failure of it?
Mine went through yesterday so 1k went in today looks ok so far, time will tell when my dds are claimed. Fingers crossed I don’t have the same issue as you as my dds for this account switch are not ones I can sort myself (ones a union member fee and other is a magazine subscription)
Did the dds debit from the origional account before the switch as I have heard of issues with mandates not always validating if they’ve never been used first?
So far so good, my first two direct debits have been claimed, the two i was more concerned about the union fee and magazine subscription (i have had 4 switched over,) two more to claim (two tesco ones), one is due this week on Friday and one Wednesday next week.MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Cheeky B's at Clydesdale locked me out and blocked the 2nd transfer of two £500 transfers out in two consecutive days! Got some bull or other on the phone about it was precautionary because it was a new account ..... blah, blah!
"I'll just put you through to the Fraud Team". Fraud Team? Jeez, I bet they are going to be busy with our forum members in the next few weeks! Sorted now.
I said I hoped this wouldn't happen again if I did a similar series of transactions in the near future ..... muttering under my breath "like in 31 days!"
I look forward to speaking to the fraud team. I'm planning on doing it with £1001 on consecutive days.
Anyone else find the app pretty rubbish compared to others? I'd assumed it'd be much better based on that it's actually meant to be an app based bank.0 -
So I finally heard from them today regarding my switch....
If you remember from my previous posts I originally applied around 26th October.
they wanted me to provide proof of address....useful!
So I've done that...on the phone I asked about the incentive and she 'put a note on for me.'
I'm not sure what that means and if I'll actually get it but we shall see.
Thing is I'll have to move my 3 % tesco account which I quite like ATM...it would be a shame to lose that and not gain the incentive....but then again a new bank will probably offer one in the next 6 months anyway, so I'd move the Tesco account then.
I'll report back when they actually move my account and If i ever see the money :beer:0
