  • The only other thing I did was to put in about £20 each month, and use it for some everyday transactions, so it looked like I was using the account as my 'normal' one.

Just been on my NatWest app and my switch from Yorkshire B has now happened. If it weren't for the £125 incentive NatWest are paying I wouldn't have switched from the B account. I experienced no issues with them and received my £250 earlier this month. In a way I'm sorry to be leaving them, but the £125 incentive to move elsewhere outweighed my loyalty. Sorry B.

I've just initiated my switch from B to NatWest — applied online and was accepted immediately. Just need to sign the forms.

Less intrusive than other applications I've done — no questions about what I wanted the account for and how I was going to use it.

Did think about First Direct, but they declined me for an account last year, so I guess they're a bit pickier about who they take.

Anyone else feel slightly guilty at "ripping off" banks in this way?

    My £250 failed.

Apparently I didn't deposit enough into the account between the switch date and the 62 days even though I switched on 28th November, deposited £1700 on the 19th of December and another £1100 on the 13th January. Told me that it had failed and there was nothing they could do.

The girl told me on the phone she will get a manager to look into it and ring me back as I stated on the phone that I had asked one of their support team 3 weeks previous was all basis covered with the pay ins which they responded yes everything is fine. Apparently they are going to retrieve the call logs.

30 hours later still no call back. Rang them again basically got the same response.

A polite f*** off is what I think they were doing.

Time to switch the account to someone else
  • Was 28th November the switch date or the date you applied to switch?
  • I think you just need to wait a a bit longer, they promise to pay within 70 days of your switch date, and they paid me I think (?) 68 days after.

That was the switch date, but I just called to make sure all was okay and thats when they said that it is coming up as failed on their system :(

If you have an email or text from them confirming that was your switch date and you can see that your deposits are shown on their website as the days you stated then you have obeyed their conditions and should go to their complaints department. You'll probably be given an extra £50 for your trouble!

Perfect will give that a go :)

Their systems got in a twist so badly that I was unable to apply before the offer was withdrawn so I emailed and complained unofficially. I just did it because I was fed up of spending hours on the telephone trying to contact them as I couldn't get anywhere on the system and didn't even expect an answer. However, I got a telephone call from the complaints team who sorted out my account and switch and allowed me to follow the process from the corrected switch date. Much to my surprise, a few days later I received a letter saying they had added £50 to the account to compensate for the bad service!
