I now have a mortgage again, and hopefully will have a house shortly!
Interest is costing me just over £10/day 😱 but with all the usual moving expenses, it'll be a while until I can start overpaying again.8 -
Congratulations on having your new home.
Ouch to your daily interest, hopefully it will be soon than you think when you can start to overpay, even if it is only by a few pounds.

Completed, have keys and and am slowly moving stuff over from my mum’s - things in storage aren’t arriving until next Wednesday. The house was filthy when I arrived (superficially OK - but not when you looked closer). Day one was washing out cupboards to put stuff in. On day two, with help from the lovely @kazwookie and her OH we hoovered up at least half a spaniel, a lot of plaster dust and loose carpet fluff as well as washing a couple of layers of mud off the floor.Over the weekend my robot hoovers (and my mum’s!) have continued working on the carpets and there is less dog hair and plaster dust now, but still plenty of loose fluff from the carpets. They’ve had new filters and brushes and are getting new batteries too. I’ve booked a deep clean for all the carpets next weekend, and having found all the bits for the steam mop and steam-cleaning All the hard floors on repeat! Some curtains are down as the poles are coming away from the walls (I don’t want to keep either the curtains or the poles, but had planned on leaving them temporarily). New loo seats have been ordered for 2 loos, and I need to work out the shape/size for the others (they are stained yellow on top 🤢). The white good left behind are pretty grubby (WM has had a descale and a cleaning cycle and is washing cleaning cloths nightly, DW has been descaled) but all other than the DW will be replaced by my own, so not an issue. Lots of plughole cleaning with bicarb and hot water, and descaling with kitchen-roll soaked vinegar going on.Window frames are all full of wildlife - the windows clearly haven’t been opened much - so I’m working my way round those based on the rooms that will be used first/most. I have a temporary office set up, so can work there for everything except recording although it won’t be very comfortable!
My mum brought two car loads over on the first day, and a friend with a small van brought a table and some garden chairs, so with me bringing one load a day and my mum doing the same we’re getting a lot shifted. I need to go and pack both the cars with today’s assortment of boxes and odds and ends!8 -

Good to hear you have the keys and are moving in, in stages.
Is it worth holding off moving too much to your house until the carpets have been deep cleaned?
Are you also washing down the paintwork with sugar soap to give it a good clean?
Please don't try to do too much at once, prioritise self-care 🤗Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Nothing is coming out of storage until after carpet cleaning - the cleaner is doing a Saturday as he'd rather do the job while the house is empty!
Not bothering to clean paintwork - redecorating is planned for the winter, a room at a time. Although skirtings, window, and door frames are getting a good wipe down. It's the floors and plugholes that are the really grubby bits.7 -
This is wonderful news, greenbee! Congratulations! I know you're looking at a lot of hard work, but it sounds like its going to be wonderful.2023: the year I get to buy a car4
