This definitely isn't fun. I've been told that it should be less horrible in the next day or so as the dose for one of the ABs has halved today. If it gets worse, I can halve the dose of both again. I'm also finding the whole not being up to doing anything in the garden thing very frustrating, as I'd just about got it under control! I have two planters to build, lots of seeds to sow, and a raised bed arriving later this week!
A lovely neighbour dropped off a note earlier saying that as they couldn't have their family with them for Easter, they wanted to share their Easter lunch with the neighbours and if we liked they'd drop off roast lamb on Sunday. I'm going to email back accepting, and offer them the potatoes and carrots from this week's veg boxes as my contribution.8 -
How absolutely lovely of your neighbours!!
Hope you feel better soon......

That sounds really nice of you and your neighbours both
Really sorry to hear the ABs are so vile

I had a small shop done by a volunteer yesterday, so restocked on peppers, cucumber, spinach, lettuce, spring onions, avocados and most importantly - hot cross buns! On the advice of a nutritionist friend, I added kefir, kombucha and sauerkraut to my order. So now have a fridge full of veg and pre/probiotics.
Veg box carrots, potatoes, apples and kiwis will go to neighbours. I’m left with lots of salad leaves, celery, asparagus, kale, spring cabbage, pepper, cucumber, strawberries, bananas and a lemon. And possibly something else... so I need to do a meal plan with this and what I have left from last week (cabbage, carrots, kohlrabi, courgettes, ginger, cherry toms). I have lots of herbs and spices, plenty of fish, quite a bit of meat, lots of pulses and more than enough carbs. So it’s just a question of being creative.
Raised bed bed is arriving today, and i’m nowhere near ready for it! The friend who did my utility room and various bits of outside work may well come over after Easter to sort that and some other outside work out. Fingers crossed he can as I have planters to put together too, and am currently having to be careful about going out as the pills can cause photosensitivity... plus as always i’ve planned far more than I can get done in the available time! And I have work to catch up on so they don’t decide they can manage without me...
Right, time to put the first lot of laundry out and stick the next in the machine.7 -

Thanks @Baileys_Babe - I've finished the ABs, and am starting to feel better. Temperature still spiking, but lower, so GP says just to call in weekly (or if it gets worse) and they're keen to understand what's going on with longer running cases but don't think I'm unwell enough to need further treatment or investigation at this stage. And I don't want to go anywhere near the hospital (although the CV hub is away from the main hospital apparently).
I managed to build a couple of planters over the weekend, so just need to level the ground for them to stand on (it means rehoming some muscari and putting down some hoggin and sand leftover from work done in 2018 which will need to be rollered flat) before I start filling them up. Baby strawberries have been potted up, broad beans sown in pots - both are in the grow house. Basil, tomato and coriander seeds are on my office windowsill (basil have germinated). I've also finally divided and repotted some house plants, and potted up some almost-dead herbs.
Veg boxes weren't bad this week, and I had another volunteer shop, so have lots of veg. I've also got sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt, kombucha as I've been told to have lots of fermented foods and 30+ different plants a week to give my digestion a chance to recover from the ABs. Thankfully I like plants - but it has reminded me to add herbs regularly.
7 of 8 packages for my raised bed have arrived, so I need to call tomorrow and find out where the missing one is. I've also had some gym kit delivered, and need to arrange to send some of it back as it's too small. I ordered Medium leggings - they're small for US/EU/CAN and medium for JP/China, which doesn't really work for me... I'll sort out the paperwork and then work out how I'm actually going to send it back as technically I still shouldn't be going out as I must have some kind of germ...3 -
I've been eating sauerkraut and kefir for the last few months after I was on ABs. You need to start off slowly with the sauerkraut until you are used to it as it is powerful stuff. Also, the sauerkraut needs to be the sort which is stored in the chiller cabinet in the supermarket. Which one are you having? I found Raw Sauerkraut to taste the best.3

Thanks @juliejim - I've had a quiet week. Pilates Mon/Tues, Yoga Friday and yesterday and a lot of lying about. I've managed to get the robots to hoover the floors, and have washed them which always makes me feel better! I've also got lots of seedings going on my windowsill (I'll need to pot them on over the next week). I've not been eating as well as I should be over the last week (a blip over easter that has carried on) although I've been having lots of veg/fermented food, I've also had too much bread/chocolate. Hopefully I'll get back to normal over the next week or so.
Yesterday I managed to get the mowing done, and today I've done some weeding, planted some candelabra primulas and fed some shrubs. I've also boiled and roasted a ham I defrosted overnight - I used up a sachet of mustard and one of mango chutney as glaze when I roasted it, which is deliciousI'm just roasting the skin now, and then will get back into the garden to do some more weeding while it's nice.
A friend's husband is coming over tomorrow to do some outside work. He's done bits for me before, and can do some outside stuff (putting up a security camera, sorting out the water butts, doing some fencing and getting the raised bed/compost bins sorted out) without any contact so it will help both of us as they're struggling financially as his work has pretty much dried up, and I'm way behind on stuff that needs doing.
Today's list still has lots on it - some weeding and weed killing, and making up the hose reel that was delivered last week so I can tidy up the hose! I also need to meal plan for the week - I'm hoping that I can go shopping at the end of the week (after the next veg box has arrived) for bits that aren't so easy to get online (radishes and other interesting salad bits, olives etc) but also want to carry on using stuff up, as if the kitchen is going to be done over the summer it really would make sense to have as little in it as possible.5 -
@greenbee do you have a robot to mow your grass? My sister does and it means they can use their energy for other garden jobs.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
