So I finally did the car diagnostics, and it says battery health is poor. The place I got the tyres from was going to price up a battery, but apparently as it's a hybrid, I need to go to a main dealer. Which isn't ideal. What happens if you get a flat battery one morning? Main dealers tend of have huge long waiting times. ETA... I've just realised that's the sample screen 🤣 so need to go and have a proper look. 

In the meantime (after I check to make sure that the tyre pressures are OK to drive on), he's recommended somewhere that can check the batteries/faults on the pressure sensors themselves and sort them out if necessary. Which is nice, as it's one of his competitors. 

All stuff I don't really want to be dealing with just before Christmas and driving halfway across the country. But then again, I don't want to be driving halfway across the country wondering what's going to go wrong next!

Checked tyre pressures - front nearside tyre was slightly down so will keep an eye on it. Just need to work out whether to recalibrate or cancel the warning - I suspect yesterday's drive wasn't long enough for it to recalibrate properly. But TBH I should probably be to go and get the sensors checked anyway. 

One barrow-load of old logs has been moved to the porch but not yet unloaded. I need to stay inside and within hearing distance of the door until the post has been collected, so I suspect that I won't get much outside stuff done after all... which is OK as it's cold out there and I'm still feeling a bit wobbly. There's laundry to do, and neighbours' cards to write and presents to wrap. First thing to do after the post has been collected will be to walk poor Stinky again. Second thing will be to call the tyre place about checking the sensors. Needs to be done either today or tomorrow as if anything needs fixing I only have Monday to get it done. I do wonder whether the amount of mud on the wheels might be having an effect...

At least there is a cure for your tyre pressure warning.  There isn't for mine.  A very cold day with about ten miles on a derestricted road, so 60/70mph.  Then off it goes.  Even though I am sure that is what it is - it still has to be checked.  At least I no longer get in OMG mode.  It can't just be me though as one garage I called in told me this model is well known for the problem.

When you google my car make/model it does include low temperatures as one of the reasons for the tyre pressure warning going off. But I'm pretty sure that wasn't it yesterday. 

Still waiting in for the postman to collect my parcel (and deliver a couple apparently). And dozing on and off on the sofa. I'll probably have to put the car away when its done as I'm too tired to drive. If I get my garden stuff done early tomorrow I might drive over to my mum to reset the sensor as it should be far enough. 

I have at least put away a bit more stuff from the back bedroom. So there's now not much junk left in there. If I can summon up the energy, I might be able to get all the bedrooms sorted before I go as part of the packing process. Getting the clutter cleared away really does help my stress levels. 

I also need to get some kind of Christmas decorations done so that the house doesn't look empty over the holiday. There will be people in and out (feeding cats, using the kitchen etc), so I'm not overly worried, but I'd like to make an effort.

Postman wasn't our normal one and didn't ring/knock... but luckily I caught him as he was wandering off and made him take the parcel he was supposed to be collecting. Hopefully it will make it to it's destination. I'd already put the car away.

Stinky then got a short walk, and some playtime with a neighbour's dog - despite running out of his wellies on gravel, his paw seems fine. 

TD is on, as is the electric airer. Not ideal given tonight's electricity prices, but it would be good to get the laundry out of the way. 

Plan for the night is probably light the fire and doze in front of it. Although I might try to get some lights up inside the front door and anywhere else I can leave them on a timer and look convincing. I'm hoping a few bits on the sitting room windowsills and in the hall, plus shoving some greenery in the porch will do the trick. 

Actually, I suppose I should check/wrap presents first. I'd intended to get a couple of small bits for my niece and nephew in addition to the present my SIL had already bought for them and then suggested I give them instead. But might just give them cash... 

Oh... and the front bedroom window is still leaking. Possibly not as badly, but the towel on  the windowsill is damp. Hopefully we can solve it before the frame and sill rot and the wall needs drying out/replastering.

Well the laundry is done. DW filter is cleaned. And some Christmas decorations are up. I'll aim to do some more tomorrow... but also plant the narcissi, put the garden stuff from the garage into the shed, and wrap presents. Oh... and do something about the tyre pressure issue. 

Guess I should go to bed as the dog and cats have already taken themselves off...

Mr KK brought home a whole pile of brand new bulbs; narcissus, tulips, crocus etc. Apparently his boss bought a dumpy bag of bulbs for a colleague of Mr KK to plant around the place and colleague has run out of places to put them! There’s still half a dumpy bag left. 😳 About half of them are the very RED tulips with the dark mottled leaves (shudder) but the others, the narcissus and the crocus are very welcome. Basically I will be planting in tandem with you today 😊

I’m very envious of the bulbs, as with that quantity you can make a real impact! If you have any spare pots, shove the tulips you don’t like in them and use them as emergency gifts! I need to replace some smaller pots with big ones this year, and will be keeping the pots for this. And if I get my new beds dug and planted this year, will be aiming to put in vast numbers of bulbs next autumn. I have plans to dig up the red/yellow striped tulips and yellow plastic daffs this year. Today’s narcissi are pheasant eye

I've cleared the garden stuff out of the garage and into the shed and greenhouse (so effectively just relocated the problem!) and found a bucket and tea-light holder in the garden that I might use in the house/on the porch. Cotoneaster and pyracantha cut for the porch so far. 

Dog has been walked, and played with a friend which was lovely. He managed to run out of his wellies, but although his paw bled a little, the cut isn't opening up anymore. 

It's misty outside, and damp, but hopefully nice enough to get the narcissi in the ground - as well as the random bulbs dug up from the garden last year shoved in somewhere in the veg plot for decoration. 

Annoyingly I've had to come in for a lie down after all that activity, so I'm just waiting to feel a bit better before I go out and dig some holes for the narcissi. Then it's a decision as to whether I attempt to reset the tyre pressure calibration again - in which case I might drive over to my mum's and back as that should be far enough to work out whether there is a problem or not.

Bulbs are in. Including the old ones from the greenhouse that I don’t like - they’re in a corner of the veg plot. The ground is lovely and soft and bulb planting on the edge of the orchard was easy… it’s tempting to order more…

Still nice outside, so I might go out and clear the greenhouse as well as cutting more greenery.
